Houston Texans fire coach David Culley after just one season
The Texans fired David Culley on Thursday, a move that came four days after Houston wrapped a 4-13 campaign in his first season as head coach. The firing comes one year after the Texans hired Culley, a longtime assistant who became the oldest first-time NFL head coach at age 65. Culley, hired in January 2021 by Texans chair and CEO Cal McNair and Caserio, was the lone Black head coach hired last offseason and was one of three Black coaches in the NFL this past season. His firing leaves the Pittsburgh Steelers' Mike Tomlin as the NFL's only current Black head coach (the Dolphins fired Brian Flores earlier this week).

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has been fined $14,650 by the NFL for violating the COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players by attending a Dallas Mavericks game last week and not wearing a mask, a source told ESPN on Thursday. Prior to attending the Mavericks game, Cooper was on the sideline at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, cheering on Alabama against Cincinnati. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick plans to continue coaching as he approaches 70
Bill Belichick, who turns 70 in April, said he still wants to coach in 2022 and will begin the process of moving forward after his New England Patriots team was rocked by the Buffalo Bills 47-17 in the wild-card round of the AFC playoffs Saturday night. Belichick, the NFL's longest-tenured head coach, notably once said he didn't plan to coach into his 70s like former Bills coach Marv Levy. He later softened those remarks. Belichick has a career record of 321-156 (including playoffs) and is the only head coach in NFL history to win six Super Bowl championships. He is third behind Don Shula (347) and George Halas (324) on the career wins list for head coaches.
