Carolina Hurricanes get forward Max Domi in 3-way trade involving Columbus Blue Jackets and Florida Panthers


The Carolina Hurricanes acquired Columbus Blue Jackets forward Max Domi on Monday in a complicated three-way trade that also involved the Florida Panthers .The Jackets traded Domi, 27, to the Panthers along with a 2022 sixth-round pick that was originally owned by the Toronto Maple Leafs. In exchange, the Panthers sent NCAA fifth-year senior defenseman Tyler Inamoto of Wisconsin to Columbus, which retained 50% of Domi's $5.3 million cap hit. Domi is an unrestricted free agent after this season. He had 32 points in 53 games this season for the Blue Jackets for 2.7 points per 60 minutes of play, his best offensive season since 2018-19.

Minnesota State star goalie Dryden McKay wins Hobey Baker Award


Minnesota State senior goalie Dryden McKay was named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award on Friday as the top player in NCAA Division I men's hockey. McKay set NCAA records with 37 wins and 34 shutouts this season for a Mavericks team that finished 38-4 and is set to face Denver University in the Frozen Four final on Saturday. McKay entered the Frozen Four second in goals-against average (1.28) and third in saves percentage (.934). He made 16 saves in Minnesota State's 5-1 win over Minnesota in Thursday's semifinal. A Hobey Baker finalist last season as well, McKay, 24, has not been drafted by an NHL team and is a free agent.

Finland, Sweden banning Russian league players from national hockey teams


Finland and Sweden will ban from their national ice hockey teams any of their players who appear in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League from next season. Both ice hockey federations announced their decisions on Monday, two days after the KHL season ended." The position of the Finnish Hockey Association is that players playing in Russia next season will not be able to play for the national team," the association said. Most foreign players left the KHL after Russia invaded Ukraine in late February. Defenseman Mikko Lehtonen was one prominent Finn who stayed at SKA St. Petersburg to the end of the season.
