The Walking Dead season 3

You can always kinda tell the stuff that's part of Kirkman's story arc and the crap that's been shoehorned into the tv show. I disagree about Merle and Daryl, their dynamic has real potential in a Paradise Lost kinda way, as each has gone in a different direction: Daryl toward nobility and heroism, Merle toward evil and flunkiehood.
Still don't like Carl. I like Rick but at times I wish they hadn't gone with a British actor. He's still overdoing the accent. What, they couldn't find a real American southern actor? In Atlanta? Fucking place is lousy with them.
The other day I was killing time in a book store and picked up Walking Dead Compendium 2. It reminded me how much potential this show still has but also how much cool stuff has been dropped away (like Dale's "real" death. Holy shit I forgot that). I still love the show but I highly recommend the books. They're better.
Except Fuddlemiff: skip issue #100. It'll piss you off...

I missed the episode, but managed to read a synopsis on IMDB.

So Andrea was all shocked by the zombie coliseum, but she fucks the Governor anyways? Okaaaaaaay.

I'm sorry I missed Michonne killing people since I like when she does that, but it sounds like I didn't miss much of an episode. And I knew Carol would still be alive.

Well let's be honest, between Shane and el Gubernoro she doesn't exactly make the best choices. I'm surprised when they did the nude scene she didn't have a whole list of guy's names tattooed on her ass.

and now for a complete segue: a scene we'd like to see:

Just got the TV pass on Amazon for this third season of Walking Dead. Watched all the episodes up to the new baby episode.

Feels like I missed the best part of the story between Andrea and Michone - their travels together for the eight months or so since Andrea was separated from the Atlanta group. Plus, who were those guys she was dragging around with her? It is intimated that they mattered to her.

I want to like Andrea. It isn't her being self-centered that bothers me. People should be interested in their own survival. But, she's the one who takes rash actions when she doesn't know anything about the situation at all. Example when she nearly killed Daryl after he'd been out looking for Sophia. The guys were going out to see what was going on and she was supposed to stay out of it but she had to get up there and prove her new found expertise in shooting down walkers.

I like the Carol and Daryl relationship and get the attraction between them. Both are basically good people, but damaged people, who were abused and subjugated by a close relative - Carol by her husband, Daryl by his brother. Both are surviving in this worst of worlds when their abusers have not. At least at the point I'm at, Daryl does not know his brother Merle survived.

I like that no one is safe in this series. There isn't some odd guy or gal going down to the surface with the away team and you know he/she isn't coming back alive.

Also found it interesting that Rick estimates that about half the population has succumbed to the zombie virus or been eating by the zombies. From what we've seen so far, I would estimate it is far more than that. More like 95%.

I'm betting Rick wouldn't have guilt tripped Lori so much about the abortion pills now. He's probably wishing he'd supported and encouraged her to abort this child because of the special circumstances they are in. Probably wishes he hadn't been such a cold bastard to her this season too.

Karl is one of those that could be a surprise. Maybe he'll turn out to be John Connor's best friend in the future. John could send back 10 or so terminators, they'd have the zombie population down to nothing in no time.

In a situation like that, no one could have guilt tripped me enough to prevent me from taking those abortion pills. Being pregnant/having a baby was a death sentence.

Why didn't Michonne tell them Andrea was there too and about Merle?

How did that crazy guy manage to survive for so long on his own?

Is Doctor Paedo going to help our heroes next week? Will Andrea fucking kill Rick by mistake or something stupid? Then have sex with his body?

She had sex one time with The Gov and she seemed to think they had some exclusive relationship where she could just walk into his home/office and pour herself some booze. She's acting like she thinks she's first lady of Mayberry.

Michonne doesn't spill much info at the best of times but yeah, she should have mentioned Andrea at least.

She does definitely know they're the same group, right?

It was a good episode, anyway. Very tense in places. Glenn's always been my second fave character after Daryl, and that was because I thought Glenn was a bit of a weakling. Well, that showed me, huh?

I wonder if Daryl will see what Merle's done and just kill him himself.

Sucks to be the guy in the hut. Looked like one of those survivalist types who have loads of supplies hidden in the middle of no where (except that he seemed happy to defer to a guy on the government payroll). The gang really do leave a path of destruction among fellow survivors, don't they? The CDC, the farm, the prison, a poor sod living with his dead dog and soon a whole town of families!

Great music in the last few minutes.

The preview did make it look like Rick got shot on a rooftop... I kinda hope that does happen, but it's probably just deceptive promo tactics. It'll turn out to be a tree.

Michonne spent something like seven months with Andrea. I'm sure Andrea would have mentioned that her previous group included a cop named Rick, a guy with a crossbow, a plucky Asian guy and T-Dogg.

Andrea said at one point "you know everything about me and I know nothing about you" to Michonne... there's no way she doesn't know what group she just joined.

Unless she was such a big fan of Lost that she decided to adopt the "not sharing information" thing into her real life.

Carl and Daryl are hands-down the best characters on the show. Probably the best-acted ones, too.

Who else was on the edge of their seat for the fight between Glenn and the zombie? My friend and I were cheering as if we were watching a gladiatorial arena match. That was some intense shit. It also showed the subtlety of how these people have managed to survive. For instance, using the bed springs as a "fence" to buy him some space and time to try and work the chair off. That primal scream at the end of the fight just sold it, too.

I agree with Fuddlemiff about the closing music. It got my blood pumping.

I'm excited to see if these survivors (who spend a lot of time trying to be stealthy) can make an entrance into the town without being loud. LOL yearite!

I'm also in the middle of reading the books. So far the TV show and the books are very well written, but are beginning to be nowhere NEAR eachother as far as story.

Michonne spent most of her time while at Mayberry snooping around; if there's a weakness in the town's defenses, she'd know about it. And they made it a point to show the governor's astonishment at Rick's group surviving in the bad part of town so now we know how doubly badass our heroes are (Glen being another example). They could destroy that entire little town if they put their minds to it, the Governor should be concerned. Can't wait!

On a side note, I read that Daryl wasn't in the graphic novels. What a great addition to the show, he's probably my favorite character. He's come a long way from the surly redneck squirrel hunter we first met in season one.
