Things you love about Star Trek

Umm, okay then.

Hey anyone still alive from TOS deserves their moment at a con.

Doug Jones as Spock, Denise Crosby as Uhura, Robert Picardo as Nancy\Hey anyone still alive from TOS deserves their moment at a con.
Yeah, I was more looking at the cast list, like Frakes as Kirk, Doug Jones as Spock, Denise Crosby as Uhura, Robert Picardo as Nancy, and whoever the other guy as Bones is supposed to be.

This may have been addressed in some fanboy's website post on TrekBBS or Reddit or fucking MySpace for all I know. But something occurred to me a long time ago about holodecks and holosuites. For this example, let's use a Holosuite...

Say you're on a layover on Deep Space Nine... you rent a holosuite at Quark's because... why not. It's been a long trip, you still got a long way to go, damn it you need a night out...
You run this program with essentially your version of Riker's Minuet. You spend all night listening to jazz music, but you go back to her place afterwards for an encore. Your session comes to a climax, as you both hit your high notes...

Now the question... where does the spunk go when you're done? What happens when you walk out of the holosuite and say "Computer, end program!" Does the deposit that you just made end up going SPLAT on the holosuite floor, causing some low-level Ferengi to come in afterwards to play jizzmopper? Or is it some sort of reverse replicator, and it somehow gets reabsorbed back into the matrix, and somehow your late night love goo becomes part of someone's Raktajino?

I'm sure this has been debated somewhere, but I'm not going to fuck up my browser history looking something like that up...

I always loved that revelation once I figured it out.

Also "City On The Edge of Forever." I never knew it until one day I saw Kirk and Edith walk past Floyd's barbershop.

It was a Desilu set, and pretty handy.

Yup, I think I noticed the City stuff first. They did a pretty good job of trashing Mayberry for "Miri" so it was less obvious until it wasn't.

Okay, so "Return of the Archons" too. I never thought about that.
I don't think I'd put money on that. It was probably filmed on a different section of the 40 Acre Lot, the buildings don't resemble Mayberry much. At least from my memory, I'd have to rewatch it probably.

A lot of the citations on Memory Alpha come from the "These Are The Voyages" books by Marc Cushman, and he got a lot of things wrong. He was also a porn director or something.

IIRC, the back 40 had a lot of stuff. Mayberry was just on one end of it. The mansion for Gone With The Wind was on the other end. So yeah, ROTA was filmed on that property but possibly on another set.

Paramount used 9/11 as an excuse to end their studio tours and, IIRC, never restarted them, but when I was living out there I did get to do Warner Brothers' tour, which was awesome (the Universal tour is fairly lame and commercial). On top of all the locations--the courthouse from the Adam West "Batman", a fair amount of "Dukes of Hazzard" and "Gilmore Girls" locations and other stuff, it was interesting that the administrative offices were in buildings that looked like a condo/apartment complex so they could use it as such for external shots.

This may or may not have been posted before, and the lighting is horrible, but I find it charming.

Spot the Star Trek reference.

If we still had points I would give the first responder 500 quatloos.

Starfleet deltas on the door....probably isn't the answer but I was looking so hard that's what I thought I saw.

The hairdresser looks like the kind of actor who would have been in a Star Trek?

Oh you win! The barber is Lt. Kyle from TOS! (no, for real)

Oh yeah, he became a barber and moved to San Fran after TOS I believe? Not sure if his return in the movies was before or after.
