Welcome Wordforge posters

I got a "domain is available" message which connected me to a broker who is possibly negotiating the sale for me. Not sure what the price is, but I paid him a 65$ retainer.

So WF was started in 2002 or so. I forget when the most recent coup happened--say 2015-ish. Over 13 years and 4 owners no one ever just forgot to pay the bills. In the past 9 years this has happened at least twice.

On another note, GoDaddy went from being an awesome affordable well run company to being expensive bait-and-switch upselling scum. You get the "Domain expired" landing page with the "purchase this domain" link. But when you click the link it turns out the domain isn't *actually* available BUT you can hire a "broker" from GoDaddy to give you "white glove treatment" and negotiate the purchase of the site for just $69.95 commission (plus whatever price the current owner will take--if anything). But even then, they structure this information in such a way that it looks like...They want the $69 BUT it turns out you have a credit of $69 so it's actually FREE. What the fuck, I'll go down that rabbit hole. I used GoDaddy for a few sites in the past so maybe I have some old credit floating around out there. After jumping through all the hoops you finally get to a page where they explain things: Tell them how much you're willing to pay for the domain, and they'll start negotiating to try to get it. Yadda yadda yadda...

At that point I clicked out and tried to cancel but after fighting with this for a few minutes I see there is nothing in my "shopping cart." Problem solved, right? Not so fast. Checking my e-mails and there's one from Joe Blarg at GoDaddy, asking me how much I'm willing to pay for the domain and wanting to get started on trying to get me the domain. Luckily they have old credit card info from me so their options are limited. I just regret updating my phone number because I remember how often they used to call me like "hey, we see you're not doing anything with this domain, if you buy X, Y, and Z and set them up on a 3 year recurring plan we can get you up and running in no time!" I got to where, if I saw a call from Arizona I was like "Fuck off, GoDaddy."
