Welcome Wordforge posters

I *gotta* stop lurking there. Because they say things that make it clear that they don't understand something and I want to try to explain it for them. But I know that they think they know everything, so even if they were smart enough to understand what I was saying, they wouldn't listen or make the effort to understand.

The Elon Musk thread. It's like "a billion dollars is a lot of money. If I was a billionaire I'd just go around and give out money to help people. 'Here, legless hobo, have a half million dollars.' 'Here little old lady, here's a new AC unit'..." or "If you made $10,000 every month from the day you were born, it would take until you're 83 to make a billion. ..."

There's an old book called "The Richest Man in Babylon." Really it is a series of pamphlets that were published by Some Guy in Olden Dayes to teach people about money. You can find it online free if you want. Anyway, one of the nuggets from it is "make your money work for you." You get some money and, instead of spending it, you save it. And you put it to use somewhere where it will make you money without any effort on your part. Over time the money that your money made makes its own money--while you're saving other money to put to work too--and you get a snowball effect. This is the part of "If you made $10,000 every month..." that they aren't seeing: You maybe don't make ANY money for 8 years. But then you make a dollar and next month you make $2. Pretty soon you have hundreds of thousands and make thousands a month and it just keeps snowballing. Which in turn answers the "If I was a billionaire...": Billionaires aren't fucking Scrooge McDuck with a big Money Vault. How much money do they think is tied up in SpaceX? Tesla? X? The Iron Man project? You can conceivably be a megabillionaire an still not actually have a lot of cash just laying around. And what you do have you probably need.

I could post that over there but it would just get jeers and mocking. Because they know everything. So instead I just watch how well things are going for these super geniuses and smile quietly.

Furthermore, try to understand how many people are employed by X, Tesla, SpaceX, etc; how many suppliers and subcontractors. How many gas stations and restaurants and supermarkets etc make money because of the people who collect paychecks from Musk ventures. All that collapses without the capital that is invested. This is what the statists don't ever get. If you take all that money and divide it up equally then all these businesses go under a lot of people lose their jobs, then all the places they spent their money go under...

I had another point but I forgot it while typing the above.

...4 years ago, when Biden signed executive orders on his first day to dramatically curtail US fossil fuel production. People just don't grasp how huge that was and how badly it crippled our economy. They just think "well you can drive an electric car and get Green Power for your house." Even if I concede these points as practical, they're the piddling tip of an economic iceberg. Cargo ships. Freight trains. Farm equipment. Long haul trucks. Cargo jets. These things all run on fossil fuel. You make fossil fuel more scarce and you make it more expensive, making food and goods more expensive. When supermarkets have to keep their freezers running with Green Power, you make groceries more expensive. Everything gets more expensive.

Plus, now that you've driven up the value of fossil fuels, you're putting even more money into the pockets of Russia and Iran--more because a barrel of crude is worth more and because now you've got to buy from them instead of the US. When Iran have more money than they know what to do with, they do things like invade Ukraine or sponsor Hamas and Hezbollah.

I mean, if you paid attention to current events for any part of the past 40 years, you knew America was fucked once the election results of 2020 were finalized (I can't say on the 1st Tuesday of November because I can't even remember how long they kept finding votes) but you definitely knew we were fucked on January 20 and it was going to be a long 4 years.

But of course you'd just get laughed at and told you don't know what you're talking about if you said that at The Other Place.

Or Commie fucking Brony John--or whatever it's calling itself these days. "Capitalism is evil. Everyone should have guaranteed food and shelter and healthcare." You know the other side of the equation when The Government controls the Means of Production, Comrade? They control labor too. You're not just going to sit in your government provided apartment and eat your government provided ramen noodles, you're going to work. Where you're needed. Farm, factory, wherever. And for whatever hours are needed for The Greater Good. And there won't be any goods or services. Because there's no incentive to provide goods or services.

And don't get me going on illegal immigration. Not only do you get a huge influx of people that consume more services than they provide value to the economy, you send a clear message that criminal activity will be not just ignored, but actually encouraged and rewarded. How can our fucking government create an app to let people fly into the country illegally?!

But no. I'm the one who's hateful and intolerant.
