Why does television suck on Saturday nights? Sundays are "Biography" on StoryTV. Saturdays are "Unexplained Phenomena". Sometimes it's good like "Ancient Mysteries with Leonard Nimoy" but usually it's some Alien Bigfoot Hunters of the Bermuda Triangle garbage. Since it's "Mystery Week" this week, they're running "American Ripper." It's a series about a Chicago con-man and occasional murderer, attempting to link him to the Whitechapel murders. I've seen it before. Interesting stuff. They maintain he built a "murder castle" and killed a bunch of people during the Chicago World's Fair and some other stuff. When it was over, I got on Wiki and no, it turns out he's basically just an amoral con-man who would kill business partners when it was to his advantage. He didn't have a "murder castle" and he wasn't a notorious American serial killer and he wasn't Jack the Ripper. So we won't be watching that.
Plan B: "Black Sheep Squadron" on H&I. That's a fun kick back to my childhood, but truth be told, it isn't very rewatchable. You can watch some story you haven't seen in over 4 decades (if at all) and it is entertaining. But if you catch an episode you've seen in the past year or 4 it's pretty painful. The stories are pretty hokey and the production values are OK but nothing like today's standards. And I'd seen the episode they had on tonight. So I wound up having the last 2 episodes of a 1st Doctor "Dr. Who" serial while eating and then just having it on in the background while I tackled much needed chores. Finally, it was time for "X-Files." Zapped that on and finished up the dishes (or at least as many as I could fit in the rack, I kind of let them go). Popped out to see Agent T-1000. Fuck! The series basically went to shit after the 1998 movie so by the time Agent T-2 is on you might as well just throw shit at the wall and watch it slide down.
So I'm basically getting ready for bed...and it's barely 9pm. Getting old sucks.
