Donovan, argue the other side for awhile. Act like you care that there are those of us who are being misplaced in our neighborhoods and communites by interlopers. I came home the other day to find a flyer in Spanish only stuck to my door knob.
Today when I was out and about I drove by two business that the signs on them were in Spanish only.
Had to stop at the 7-11 for cash again today. Mexican chick was there again and she is still trying to force everyone to speak her language while refusing to speak English.
I had to select "English" to get cash out of the ATM.
At a recent neighborhood property owners meeting a woman there demanded that the Mexicans have a separate meeting for those who speak Spanish only.
Keep in mind that all these places are within 5 miles of where I was born and spent most of my life.

For starters, don't assume because I am currently in New York that I have never been in neighborhoods where the spanish population is high. I have pretty extensive experience with both American hispanics and migrant workers. I've lived in Dallas, Vegas, New Mexico, Southern California, Colorado and Oregon, all of which have substantial populations of spanish people. I say this only so no one comes at me with the "You don't know what it's like" argument.
Exactly what has been taken away from you specifically? Have you, Eloisel, lost your home? Has your town been ceded back to Mexico? Where exactly is your loss? Have you been refused entry into public school because of them? Hospital? Country Club? Restaurant? Retail outlet? Can you say that a Mexican has denied you any of those things? Because they CAN say it.
Was it a good flyer? If not, how was it any harder to throw away than junk mail printed in English?
Are there only two businesses in your town? Or three? You have previously complained that "those people" are cluttering up your english-speaking convenience store, of which I'm sure there are dozens if not hundreds, complete with English only signs. So when some hispanic entrepeneur opens up a shop specifically catering to his "kind" now you begrudge him that option? Is getting rid of them entirely the only acceptable answer? And have you been forced into the spanish sign shop?
In what bizarro world do you have to ask a clerk for permission to use an ATM? And again, are there not HUNDREDS of them around? Why is it imperative you get your cash there, if hearing her talk offends you so much?
So do I, every time. I also have to tell my computer whether I want to log off, turn off the machine or simply switch users. I frequently have to punch numbers repeatedly into a phone to get a live operator. How is pushing one button in any way inconvenient? You type on a goddamned keyboard for fun. Thousands of keystrokes. You're telling me that one simple yes/no on an ATM is that much of a bother?
Good. Sounds like she's kind of a pushy broad, put her in charge of the beaner-meeting and she'll stop coming to yours. Win win.
And the entire area is formerly where their ancestors lived their entire lives. Equally irrelevant. In Maine, where Tamar keeps a careful watch for any beaner incursions, the population is 96% white. If it bothers you so much, off you go.
Maybe I just don't have that gene that allows me to separate "us" from "them." I tend to see this country as a vast land of amazing beauty and potential, and having traveled much of it I realize there's plenty to go around. It's not going to cost me my comfort level to let my neighbor have his shot at the American pie. In fact, that's pretty much how we all got here. Maybe, instead of carrying around a checklist of all the ways you are different you might try to see if you can find common ground with your neighbors. It's called being a good neighbor. I learned it on Sesame Street.

But that isn't what you said before. My stance isn't against the nationality, race, ethnicity, color, sex, weight, or any other facet about a person. My stance is against persons trying to force me to speak Spanish. My stance is against being fluent in Spanish being a job requirement for jobs in America that do not require doing business with foreign countries where Spanish is the main language.
If you want to speak Spanish - then that is fine with me. I don't care. You can speak a 100 languages and I don't care. Good for you. But, I do not want to be forced into that. And, yes, we are being forced into that where I live. And, no - it isn't fair to ask me to move out of my home because the Mexicans who demand that the area they take over cater to their nationality are invading and it is perfectly fine with the self-righteous and politically correct.

Bingo. I should NOT have to learn Spanish to get a job in America. That is becoming increasingly mandatory in some areas.
My county is rapidly becoming Hispanic. While some things are good (the coffee!) the language bit sucks. Signs in Spanish, etc. I'm sorry but if you're immigrating to this country, unless you are older, learn the fucking language. My German, Hungarian, Irish and other ancestors did. No Irish signs, no voting in German, etc., no bilingual English with Spanish signs in Sears. No fucking all Spanish commercials (and we have them now) on ENGLISH channels (not Telemundo, but on a regular station.)
This country speaks English. You want to speak Spanish in your home, cool. But when I have to have it to get a job, that's fucking bullshit. When our signs are now bilingual, that's bullshit.

The reason I find your attitude so repugnant is that, as a disabled person, you require special accommodations every single day by your fellow Americans. Closer parking, ramps, actual physical changes to building codes all to accommodate a small minority. If someone told you perhaps you should stay away from certain stores, neighborhoods and buildings until you can get up and walk up the damn stairs like a normal american?

Forgive me, but how is being bilingual to get a job any different from having computer skills, college degree, technical licensing, sheriff's security clearance, or any of the hundreds of thousands of prerequisites for jobs all over this country? Your argument is nonsensical. EVERY job has particular requirements for hire, even if it's something as simple as passing a drug test or having a valid driver license. How in the world is a language requirement any different?
As for signage, I pointed out already that most of the rest of the world has multilingual signage, and it doesn't seem to bother them. Give me ONE credible example of how having an extra sign has hurt you directly in any way, and I'll concede that argument. I'm fairly confident that won't happen, unless you had one blow over on you in a windstorm or something.
PS you do understand that all your ancestors were as reviled as the Mexicans you currently target, and basically gathered themselves in tightknit little communities where they could protect and insulate themselves from intolerant Americans, and that they also spoke their mother tongue for about two generations until assimilation took hold naturally? And in some cases, like those of the Irish, the previous immigrants actually hated their own people who came later and treated them horribly.

I've decided I'm going to embrace what it means to be Mexican.
I'm no longer going to get my car inspected or new tags. I'm not going to get insurance or renew my driver's license either. If I hit someone, and it is my fault, oh well. Too bad for them.
I'm going to buy a house I can't afford and other people can pay for it.
I'm going to buy a big, new truck and other people can pay for that too.
I also want all that free health care, dental care, welfare, food stamps, groceries, and cheese. Oh, God, I'm drooling over the cheese.
I'm still not going to speak Spanish. I'm going to demand that people speak to me in the language of my choosing. I think it is time I embrace my Armenian heritage. I want that choice added to the ATM and I want all the signs to include what is written thereon in Armenian. The ballots must include Armenian thereon too, even though one cannot vote unless they are an American citizen and they are required to know English in order to get citizenship. Just because I'm an American citizen by birth does not mean I should have to limit myself to the English language because it is just the common language and not the official language of the land.
Of course, I reserve the right to write and speak in Armenian only when it suits me. If you don't like it, then tough shit. You are a racist and a bigot.
