And, what do you call that bitch at the store? I do not in any way, shape or form look Mexican. I live in America. The store is in a neighborhood that I was born in and lived the majority of my 50+ years in. Why would that bitch speak to me in Mexican? Why does that cunt want to make me speak her fucking languge when I didn't move to Mexico?

Only citizens are allowed to vote in this country. To become a citizen, a person must be proficient in English. Why are the ballots in English and Mexican? And, why only Mexican? There are many people who have a language other than English as their first language.

And, yes, it is Mexican. The Spanish aren't breaking into the country and demanding we kiss their ass.
 
So you're saying we don't speak English in this country, we speak American?

And ever hear of Manifest Destiny? In a sense, we DID move to Mexico and took a lot of it from them. Turnabout is fair play.

That's a truly bizarre point of view. Because of a completely dissimilar situation 150+ years ago with two sovereign nations warring over territory, the things that are going on today should be perfectly acceptable?
 
I'm afraid I simply don't buy into the idea of collective guilt. I am not responsible for things people who may or may not have been related to me may or may not have done. It's historically interesting, but that's all. I refuse to be made to feel guilty for the actions of others. I am responsible for my actions, and to an extent the actions of my small children. That is all. Communal guilt is a collectivist tactic which attempts to bully people into conforming to their ideas by trying to make a person feel responsible for the actions of others.

They're more patient than you think, they can endure a lot more discomfort than you, and finally --and here's the big secret-- they actually don't give a squealing rat fuck about 'collective guilt' or the sins of your fathers. They want your kids and they want your shit and eventually they're going to get both, all because they're multiplying faster than you can reload.

It isn't about being white. It isn't about immigrants. It is about turning this country over to non-English speaking persons. No other immigrant - legal or illegal - is catered to as much as the Mexicans are. You can't go anywhere in the world with an immigration policy as biased towards Mexicans as the one we have in this country.

There is an elementary school in my neighborhood where the only language spoken is Mexican. Why is that? Why aren't these children being taught English?

Why are there local venue type only jobs that require a candidate "must speak Spanish fluently." Why do I have to select "English" instead of "Spanish" for an ATM transaction at an ATM machine in America?
 
What do you call the Mexicans that come to this country and refuse to learn to speak English? Do you call them bigoted racists too? Oh no - that would make you a bigoted racist.

And, Obama is a half black person. Are you bigoted against half black people? Should he be ashamed that he is half black?

This is my twofold attempt to have apples compared with apples, and secondly questioning the relevance of activities 150+ years ago with the situation today.

This is me debunking the absurd idea of communal guilt.

Now, which of these statements bears even a passing resemblance to the strawman you so hastily constructed when your attempt at white guilt failed?
 
Sake of argument, Eloisel, because I know full well my scenario is a big stretch: What if instead of Spanish and instead of being Mexican, the clerks at your 7-11 spoke Cherokee or Sioux or other native language and they were of that tribe? What if that was the language you had to choose between and English at the ATM?

I am against having to choose between any other language and English in order to transact business in America.

I do not care how many languages a person speaks. My concern is that English speakers in this country are being forced to speak Mexican in order to do business and hold jobs. All other immigrants and conquered peoples in this country have had to adopt English, which is the common language of the land.

Only recently have the Cherokee required their young to learn the tribal language in school. My first husband is Cherokee and his family speaks English. Don't know about the Sioux.
 
Hey, at least Koreans are honest about their racism. When I was there a few years back, I remember getting kicked out of several places because I was too tall or too white. Though, I wasn't upset, really. It felt alright to me that they were defensive of their national pride. Something I think Americans have forgotten. I think that after over 400 years of existence, we can finally take down that sign on the Statue of Liberty. It is nothing more than a silly French prank at this point. The line has been open for long enough. Ride's full. Take the next one. Try north, in Canada. They have plenty of room. Our schools, cities, and unemployment lines are overcrowded enough. Time to close the borders. Send those wetbacks, degos, limeys, chinks, zipper-heads, coons, and eurotrash pussies away. We've got enough.

Also, Dirk. Mexicans are a race in and of themselves. They look different than their Spanish ancestors. Their culture, language, monetary system, and genetics are different. They speak a pygmy Spanish that is barely comprehensible to natural Spanish speakers. They are, for all intents and purposes, a different people entirely.

Each region of the planet produces unique human beings.
 
Conchanga, you are ranting because it is a knee jerk reaction. You've been thoroughly brain washed. All things white people = bad. Interesting that in the responses above, speaking English in an English speaking country is racist. The Mexicans that come to this country, that raise their children in this country - they aren't racist when they refuse to use English in this country, but insist that everything be recreated separately for them in another country's language. No other group of immigrants is granted that separate, unequal treatment.

Furthermore, Robert, regarding "Mexican" vs. "Spanish" - persons from Mexico may speak any one or more of more than 60 languages that are recognized languages of Mexico, most of which are not Spanish but Amerindian. In Spain, while the nationally recognized languages are significantly less, Spanish is quite often a person's second language with one of the other languages as a primary language.

The thread is about racism on EI. Since this is TK, thought I'd make it about racism on TK. Interesting that these very people who scream about me being a racist because I want English to be the official language of the land only recognize racism in white people in America. That, in itself, is racism.
