Just when I'm wanting to be in a relationship

I remember why it's better to be single when I'm driving down a dark country road looking for my brother-in-law who got out of their car to walk home because they were fighting.

Can't make this shit up. *sigh*

Never, ever getting married. I know it's wrong to base my view of marriage on my sister's, but when their drama imtrudes on my life, wtf else am I supposed to think?

Sorry for the "real" thread, but don't really have anyone to vent to.

Love is grand. Just because they're fucked up doesn't mean your marriage will be fucked up. Being married is hard fucking work and isn't for everybody. But don't think it isn't a wonderful thing. I regret fucking mine up every day.

Don't get me wrong. My parent celebrated their 42nd anniversary today. But the men I'm surrounded by are emotional fuckwits and perverts, to quote Bridget Jones a bit.

That is too much drama. I would think that you would chose someone with more maturity than that, and what guy would want to walk out of your car?! I would not! And if a guy walked out of my car, I don't think I would chase him. (maybe)

People say relationships are hard work, but I think when you find someone that clicks, it isn't hard work. But it probably still is. What do I know? This is why I stray away from a traditional relationship.

Vent here all you want. Its nice to see someone else venting besides me. : P

Homo is right. A lot of folk think everything will be peachy after getting hitched. It takes alot of work and giving, like anything else. But it's awesome to have your best friend around all the time, sharing everything.

Not all men are arseholes, sure a lot of us are, but not all.

There is someone worth your time out there, dont give up looking.

The getting out of the car thing is a high school move.

High schoolers get out and chase the tantrum-thrower. Grown-ups let them freeze their ass off walking home as a consequence of their actions.

Or they can get into the CASH CAB! (My new av) ;)

Can I have Ops?
During my 15 years of marriage we have both done high school moves like this. I remember once screeching off in a car burning rubber before realising that:

1. I am not sure where I am going exactly, and would quite like to sleep in my own bed tonight
2. I behaved like a petulant child, this is not a movie.
3. Eventually we will laugh about this, and I WILL BE THE BUTT OF THE JOKE

Normally I / my wife returns with a sheepish grin and we laugh about it.

Keep looking Tis...

Have you got a bigger version of that picture, there is so much going on I recon a larger version would let us see more of the details.

My sister was going to let him walk home, but I'm too paranoid and started having visions of him in a ditch somewhere, so that's why I picked him up.

And you also need to understand, this isn't just him. I LOVE my sister, but she can be a very hard woman to love sometimes. Both of them need to grow up. They've been together for almost 10 years, and this is fairly normal behavior.

You are not your sister though, you cant base what your relationship might turn out like based on what hers has.

There are are always rough times when you are part of a couple, but for the most part it beats the years of lonliness I had before.

You know, she always tells me to wait until I'm married because it wil be the same, and I always say but I'm not you, and she says it won't matter.

*shrugs*

I know I shouldn't think this way, but on days like this (and this has been a special week, already two domestics in a row) it's hard not to be cynical.

If you don't know, now ya know
Yeah, but you've already waited longer than she did to get married, right? AAAAND, you have her marriage to show you what NOT to do.

This is her second. Her first marriage was when I was 19. He was an evil s.o.b.

We could marry each other if we're both single at 40!

Marriage is but one option when it comes to long term relationships.

So don't worry about it much, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't then it doesn't.

Dr Dave is the voice of reason here. Has the world come to an end?
