Star Trek 12 news/countdown thread

Whne is this fucking movie actually coming out I forgot.
 
Maybe a year... maybe yesterday.
 
Or May 17th. That's still ages away, really.
 
EW accidently called Cumberbatch's character Khan and Trekmovie seems to be sticking to its guns, so we still don't know for sure if he is indeed a new character or not.

The whole thing reminds me of this:

I don't really see how he could be Khan when he's English, in Starfleet and doesn't really seem to be Khan.
 
Me either. The closest I think it'll get is that he'll essentially have Khan's superhuman genetic abilities and fight for revenge, but be a completely new person.
 
He could be an augment, what with the glimpses of people in tubes we've seen. I don't know how that'll fit with being in Starfleet.
 
Yeah, I'm betting it's just someone else on the Botany Bay who they woke up instead of Khan.

Maybe its Jochim, and at the end of the film when (if) he dies, the real Khan steps from the shadows and says "I will avenge you!"
 
All of my & our Trekulating is pointless in the end. We'll KNOW by Memorial Day WHO Cucumberbatch is playing:shrug:

Khan was named for Kim Noonien Singh, a friend of Gene Roddenberry during the Second World War. Roddenberry had lost touch with him and hoped that his friend would see his name on television and contact him. This was also the origin of the name of Noonian Soong.

Because Arik Soong was the father of Noonian Soong. Arik Soong was a genetic engineer, trying to re-create augments. He named his son after Khan.
