There has been a great deal of discussion regarding that in another thread. At the moment, I don't agree with the orthodox version of people being systematically put to death.

While there would obviously exist no moral highground for exterminating people in such a fashion, Jews were not singled out as mere scapegoats because they were not totally innocent. I'm not referring to the little mom and pop bakeries, and neither was the author when he delivered this speech.
