Alphas

I watched it tonight. It was pretty okay. Better than the first episode of Falling Skies, even though it didn't have STEVEN SPIELBERG producing it! Could have been better but there was nothing really bad about it. And normally a series will improve after the pliot. So maybe that will happen. OR MAYBE IT WILL FUCKING SUCK.

I liked that the team wasn't overpowered. One of the (many) problems with Heroes was that they had stupidly powerful characters like Hiro and Peter so they then had to come up with ways to stop them using their powers to solve whatever problem was going on too early. So we ended up with SHIT like Hiro having a brain tumour and never being able to user his powers again (until he did) and Hiro regressing to the mind of a child (HOW COULD WE TELL THE DIFFERENCE LOL.)

Power of suggestion woman had nice cheekbones.
 
Caught the last 40 minutes of it last night and enjoyed what I saw. I'm not going to deny that I think David Strathairn is a sexy mofo. I've always loved him, and hope he's found a spot on tv.

The only one whose powers I didn't see was the other chick, who was being held at gunpoint near the end. And what is David's powers? Suggestion as well?

She has synaesthesia, although I'm not entirely clear on how that plays into things. She's able to hear really well and has excellent vision, but the only point where they showed her actual synaesthesia was when she was surveying a room and saw pretty colours (which looked just like the power of the deaf cello woman in Heroes who could see sound).
 
Am I the only one who's never heard of David Strathairn before? Everyone's talking like he's a household name.
 
Wacky, you're not the only one - I actually had to Google him. Course, as soon as I saw his pic, I'm all oh that guy!
Funny story: He's American! All these years I thought he was European...
 
I think he's kinda like that GUY who played Penny's father. He's in lots of stuff, but he was never a big name movie star.
 
I don't seem to have seen anything else he was in, but based on Alphas I would've guessed he was European too. He sounds like an Englishman who's been in America for a few decades.
 
Wow, he's really been in a lot of made for TV movies! Which is probably why you guys haven't heard of him, most TV movies suck.
 
I liked the turn the show is taking. I sort of had a feeling the place they send the bad Alphas wasn't so great.
 
I was looking at some internet discussion of the show and the people commenting seemed VIOLENTLY OPPOSED to the show even existing...but most of them hadn't even watched it and were saying things like "IT'S SYFY IT'LL BE SHIT OR GET CANCELLED." Didn't seem fair.
