BG Blood & Chrome a go

BEfore I forget, I loved the little mine cart things that take them to their planes, a nice nod to the original series.

It's funny how Adama never mentioned it when they found out about the humanoid cylons (or indeed how he saw a hybrid in Razor.)

Though it's no surprise he never mentioned being attacked by a giant extraterrestrial snow anaconda, since EJO always said he'd quit if they introduced any aliens. Okay, he probably didn't have wildlife in mind, but still, I think this shows he was right.

On top of being a bit daft, it was a needless distraction. And the nutty "cabin fever" guy* and the preposterous drop through the chasm didn't help either.

*Yet another previous BSG/Caprica actor... I count three so far. And Chunky Guy is also in the Halo miniseries which was filmed at that Canadian university that was always in BSG and Stargate.

The Osiris's maneuvers were a bit too speedy for my liking. It is a much smaller ship than Galactica, but it still could've done with having a slightly larger turning circle than what was shown. The captain might've given a speech of some sort too. Just "it was an honour serving with you" would've done. Did people below decks have any idea they were about to be vapourised? I mean it'd be nice to be informed, even if you did sign up for it.

So the pilot with the son deserted them? I didn't see that coming!

No, the raptors in BSG didn't have weapons until the last few episodes when they were fitted with missiles and perhaps guns. They said that Adama's one in this was specially modified, though.

I wonder if they'll explain why the Cylons in this don't look like any others we've ever seen.

The big rugged guy in the shower who Adama was a fan of was also in the original series as one of the rapists from Cain's ship, but you will probably recognise him more from SGU.

True.

And I'd forgotten about the guy from SGU. I didn't even realise he'd been in BSG before actually. He was also in that Halo miniseries I mentioned. It's funny how we're so familiar with these people's faces but don't know any of their names.

I was convinced he was the son of Robert Foxworth, formerly of falcons crest, but lately the go to guy for evil generals.

But seems he is no relation.

Oh was he the guy in SGU who was one of the terrorists but he was actually good but I can't remember what happened to him aftere that?

He just gradually joined the crew, and just about a couple of episodes before the end was trusted enough to have his own gun.

You know I thought the story would develop a bit as it went on but we really don't know anything more after this episode (okay the cylon didn't kill Bekka because she had some code thing?) and next week's the finale? That's kind of disappointing.

I liked the piano scene the cylons looked good.

I wonder how much was cut for the internet version. Maybe there's a lot more to it? I DON'T KNOW.

Yeah, it's not like it was bad, but considering the limit on time you'd think they'd develop the story a bit more instead of having the characters just pottering about for a bit. It doesn't look as though they've even reached their destination yet. And if they killed off Canadian Actor #89047, then that seemed very abrupt.

The new Cylons are pretty cool looking and I really liked the depiction of them feeling pain. Quite disturbing, like seeing a wounded pet. I hope they have some time to explain why they're different from the others.

Anyway, hopefully it's been a successful series and will spawn some more, but it's been so long since it was finished that the creative team have probably dispersed.

Well, it was originally a pilot for a full series, but then SyFy decided not to go for it and gave it to Machinma to release online, which would account for why it probably won't resolve that many plot threads (you never know!).

I don't know. It's all been okay so far, but it all kind of feels like a bizarre low budget knockoff BSG that you find in the pound shop called "StarBattle: Solarium" or something.

Bear retweeted some SyFy guy saying if the numbers for the tv showing and dvd sales are high then they'd love to continue to somehow, but surely the tv numbers will be low after everyone's watched it on YouTube?

I was looking at the viewing figures on YouTube. The first episode has 2 million views, which on the one hand represents about a month of aggregated viewings so its taken a while to get there, but on the other hand, it still is very high compared to SyFys typical ratings for a single broadcast, so who cares about the differing timespan involved. The later episodes steadily go down in ratings but are around 600k, which seems pretty good for something with no advertising campaign. I wonder how much money they make from the ads.
