BG Blood & Chrome a go

And the Osiris's captain will do more than just put her hand on Chunky Guy's shoulder before she sets off the nukes.

BUT HE DIDN'T HAVE A VIPER UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF THE WAR. (I always thought that bit was stupid in Razor anyway.)

How can there be a proto-Six when she wasn't built until the Final Five got there?

Umm, it was pretty good.

When are the final five supposed to have arrived? At first I was omg IT'S SIX, and then I was WAIT A MINUTE... I didn't think the Sixes hated humans, though.

Oh, after all that bitching I did it actually made a lot of sense not to tell us what the plan was until the end, at least from a dramatic PoV. Not entirely sure why she thought they shouldn't know, but you could easily argue it was a precaution in case they got captured.

Tricia Helfer adds yet another robot to her acting repertoire! That was a really nice surprise, helped by me never figuring out the chronology of the F5 anyway.

The ending was really good too, but while enjoying the spirit of it (and the lovely lovely CGI), I was thinking "oh, so you managed to stick to continuity the whole way through and then threw it out the airlock in the last few moments?". And if you want to get really fanboyish, it wasn't even the right type of viper (it was a Mk. III, while the one used in Razor and presented to Adama as his old viper in the pilot of BSG was a Mk. II).

Poor old thingy from Alphas died off camera.

I was talking to the guy who designed the snake and apparently it was requested right from the beginning by SyFy execs because they've had a lot of success with their "SuperConda vs MegaPython" type tv movies and think it's a big draw. They requested it before anyone had even been cast.

Basically the cython was supposed to be something of a hybridization experiment like taking native creatures and "cylon-izing" them in some way. It was supposed to lead to something later if they ever picked up the series.

Yep, that exactly what it says. The SyFy execs were responsible for the crappy standalone BSG eps too, REMEMBER? I can't remember what they were called by HELO was involved in most of them, I think.

Also, people don't watch those terrible SyFy movies because they're good. They watch them because they're horrible! We expect BSG to be good, not oooooh cool did you see the big snake thingy?

Syfy’s ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ (Finally) Gets TV Premiere Date

By THE DEADLINE TEAM | Friday January 25, 2013 @ 11:37am PST

The network’s Battlestar Galactica prequel has been hurtling through space in various incarnations since Syfy decided last March not to go forward with the pilot for a potential series. Instead, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome debuted as a weekly web series on the Machinima Prime YouTube channel, garnering around 8 million views. The network is now following through on its promise to give it an airdate, setting February 10 from 9-11 PM for its world TV premiere as a two-hour full-length movie. The Universal Cable Productions pic will include scenes not included in the online release, and it will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on February 19. Blood & Chrome is set during the first Cylon war and centers on young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino). David Eick is executive producer along with Michael Taylor, who wrote the teleplay from a story by Taylor, Eick, Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. All are veterans of Syfy’s original Battlestar series. Jonas Pate (Caprica) directed.
