The Panthers will get a second prime time game thanks to a change that has their Dec. 19 contest at Green Bay now at 8:15 p.m. It'll be a cold one at Lambeau Field. Carolina's only other prime time game this year was against Atlanta on a Thursday night.

Jermaine Carter learned on Saturday he would get the start over injured middle linebacker Tahir Whitehead (ribs). He played 55 percent of the snaps (31) and had four tackles, one on future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson that stands out the most.

Matt Rhule has talked about the “process'' that he feels is so important to success since the day the Panthers hired him. The completeness of Sunday's 20-0 victory over Detroit was a glimpse of how he'd like to see the process work consistently in terms of complimentary football. He even called it “a process win.''

Matt Rhule called the decision to sit QB Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday the "hardest individual decision I've had to make in terms of game day.'' It truly went down to the wire because Bridgewater wanted to play and was cleared medically. As for whether Bridgewater's replacement, P.J. Walker, solidified himself as the clear No. 2 QB, Rhule isn't ready to say.

Sam Mills named 2021 semifinalist for Pro Football Hall of Fame

Legendary Panthers linebacker Sam Mills was a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the first time last year, and has taken another step toward returning to that discussion Tuesday.Mills was one of the 25 semifinalists named for the Class of 2021 after preliminary voting by the Hall's selection c ommittee. Making the final 15 was a significant step for Mills last year, in his 17th year of eligibility. He was recognized for his leadership of a dominant defense in New Orleans, along with his work building the foundation of the Panthers franchise in its first three years. He also excelled in the USFL, earning his shot and eventually establishing himself as one of his generation's top inside linebackers.

QB Teddy Bridgewater's return for Panthers comes against former team (Minnesota)
Christian McCaffrey not expected to play.
Bridgewater missed all of the 2016 season and most of the 2017 season after suffering the career-threatening right knee injury that required nearly 16 months of rehab. He spent the 2018 and '19 seasons at New Orleans before signing a three-year, $63 million deal with the Panthers this past offseason.

Beebe amends for fumble with TD as Vikes top Panthers 28-27

Chad Beebe seized the chance to make up for the glaring mistake still fresh in his mind, one of many gaffes that nearly cost Minnesota the game. After their awful start, the Vikings turned November into quite a redemption tour.Beebe caught a 10-yard touchdown pass with 46 seconds left shortly after he muffed a punt that let Carolina pad its lead. Then Joey Slye's 54-yard field goal try went wide left with 1 second remaining, preserving the Vikings' 28-27 victory over the Panthers on Sunday. The Vikings (5-6) finished the month with their fourth win in five weeks out of their bye, moving within one game of the final NFC wild card spot. Bridgewater nearly matched Cousins' heroics against the team that drafted him in the first round in 2014. He connected with Curtis Samuel for 35 yards to near midfield with 28 seconds remaining, but a Vikings team with two one-point losses this year held on this time.

ROOKIE RECORD
There were 38 combined points scored in a dizzying second half that started with Chinn's remarkable sequence. Chinn, a second-round draft pick out of Southern Illinois who has thrived at a hybrid safety/linebacker position, became the third player in NFL history with multiple fumble returns for touchdowns in the same game.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule says there is no excuse for losing a game with two defensive touchdowns. Takes the blame as a staff and says it starts with him. He's not sure about the extent of injuries in the final minutes to WR DJ Moore and QB Teddy Bridgewater.

ESPN's win probability model did not agree with Matt Rhule's decision to attempt a field goal on 4th and 3 with 1:54 left in the game. The field goal put the Panthers up 6. WP if they went for it: 92.8% WP by kicking: 90.6% Needed just a 22% conversion chance to justify going for it, league average there is 41%.

Panthers rookie Jeremy Chinn is the first player to score two defensive touchdowns in the same game since Samsom Ekuban for the Rams in 2018 against the Chiefs. He is the first player in Carolina history to score two defensive touchdowns in one game. He now has one more touchdown than his uncle, Hall of Fame safety Steve Atwater.

The Panthers did a solid job of containing Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook, holding him to 35 yards rushing and 21 receiving in the first half. They seemingly outplayed the Vikings much of the half, but went into the locker room down 10-7 thanks to a 53-yard field goal at the end of the half.

Bridgewater was limited to 176 yards passing as the Panthers (3-5) lost their third straight game without injured Christian McCaffrey.

The Panthers entered Sunday's game ranked 26th in the NFL in red zone TD scoring at 53.8%. They scored on all four trips inside the 20 on Sunday. That wasn't enough to upset Kansas City, the NFL's second-highest-scoring team, which held on for a 33-31 victory.

Week-10: L
QB Teddy Bridgewater injures knee in loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers 46-23
Bridgewater, 28, opened the game with 12 straight completions and two touchdown passes as Carolina played to a 17-17 halftime tie. He added a touchdown run on a scramble in the fourth quarter after the Panthers (3-7) were outscored 12-0 in the third quarter en route to their fifth straight loss.

Beebe amends for fumble with TD as Vikes top Panthers 28-27

Carolina Panthers News

Matt Rhule was vague on whether he would bring in players to compete with kicker Joey Slye, who missed a game-winning field goal on Sunday, or to replace a few other players that were "banged up'' in the 28-27 loss at Minnesota. Says he'll have a better idea in a few days on what he and GM Marty Hurney will do.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule says the decision on whether to play Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) or any player the final four games will not be impacted by the team being out of playoff contention. McCaffrey remains on target to return in two weeks against Denver.

Matt Rhule doesn't need the bye week to determine the Panthers should have blitzed more in the fourth quarter and have to blitz more the final four games to create pressure. "When we all walked off the field, [defensive coordinator Phil] Snow being the first one saying if we could go back we would have blitzed more.''

Matt Rhule gave players the bye week off. Coaches will be off Thursday through Sunday. A time to recharge and evaluate why the Panthers are 4-8 with four games remaining.
