Week-1: L
Jacobs runs for 3 TDs as Raiders hold off Panthers 34-30
Josh Jacobs followed his strong rookie season by running for 93 yards and three touchdowns, Derek Carr threw for 239 yards and a score. Birdgewater replaced Cam Newton as the franchise's starting QB and finished 22 of 34 for 270 yards and one touchdown in his Carolina debut.

Week-2: L
Brady, Fournette lead Bucs over Panthers 31-17
Tom Brady got his first win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1), throwing for 217 yards, one touchdown and an interception. With another recent acquisition, Leonard Fournette, rushing for 103 yards and two TDs. Teddy Bridgewater was 33 of 42 for 367 yards and two interceptions for the Panthers (0-2), who had four turnovers. McCaffrey, who spent most of the fourth quarter on the sideline, scored on runs of 1 and 7 yards and finished with 58 yards rushing and 29 receiving on four catches.

Week-3: W
Panthers beat Chargers 21-16 for Rhule's first NFL victory
Teddy Bridgewater was 22 of 28 for 235 yards and a touchdown in his first win with Carolina (1-2). The seven-year veteran helped the Panthers snap a 10-game losing streak dating to last season. Herbert became the third quarterback since the merger to throw for 300 yards in his first two starts. The rookie was 35 of 49 for 330 yards and a touchdown, but also had a fumble and an interception.

Week-4: W
Bridgewater, Panthers fix red-zone woes, top Cardinals 31-21
Bridgewater threw for 276 yards and two scores as the Panthers solved their red-zone issues from a week ago by scoring TDs on their first four trips inside the Arizona 20-yard line. Murray threw for three touchdowns for the Cardinals (2-2), but was limited to 133 yards passing as Arizona finished with 262 yards on offense, running just 55 plays.

Week-5: W
Panthers surge into tie for first in NFC South, beating the Falcons 23-16
Many wrote the Panthers off before the season after they hired a first-year NFL head coach and completely overhauled the roster, dumping quarterback Cam Newton along the way. There seemed to be no way rookie coach Matt Rhule’s team could keep pace with Drew Brees and New Orleans or Tom Brady and Tampa Bay. Don’t look now, but the Carolina Panthers are tied for the NFC South lead.

Week-6: L
Red zone woes keep Panthers from extending win streak against Bears
The Panthers (3-3) made the Bears' defense look even better, particularly in the first half where they walked away from two drives inside the 5-yard line with field goals after Sunday's 23-16 loss.

Week-7: L
Panthers fall short again 27-24 to Saints despite Teddy Bridgewater's heroics
Bridgewater finished 23 for 28 for 254 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. That left Joey Slye trying to make NFL history with a 65-yard field goal. It fell inches short.

Week-8: L
Ryan, Falcons avenge earlier loss to Panthers, 25-17
The Falcons (2-6) have had a penchant for squandering leads, coming into the game 1/3 when leading entering the fourth quarter. Matt Ryan threw for 281 yards and ran for a touchdown, Younghoe Koo made four field goals. Bridgewater was limited to 176 yards passing as the Panthers (3-5) lost their third straight game without injured Christian McCaffrey.

Week-9: L
Christian McCaffrey brings scoring burst back to Panthers' offense
The Panthers entered Sunday's game ranked 26th in the NFL in red zone TD scoring at 53.8%. They scored on all four trips inside the 20 on Sunday. That wasn't enough to upset Kansas City, the NFL's second-highest-scoring team, which held on for a 33-31 victory.

Week-10: L
QB Teddy Bridgewater injures knee in loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers 46-23
Bridgewater, 28, opened the game with 12 straight completions and two touchdown passes as Carolina played to a 17-17 halftime tie. He added a touchdown run on a scramble in the fourth quarter after the Panthers (3-7) were outscored 12-0 in the third quarter en route to their fifth straight loss.

Week-11: W
Panthers backup P.J. Walker shows he's good enough to beat the Lions 20-0
Walker completed 23-of-43 pass attempts for 258 yards and a touchdown. Walker also threw two bad interceptions in the red zone on which the Detroit defender looked like the intended receiver. The Lions were so bad offensively that they punted four times in the first half against a Carolina team that forced only two punts in the last four games combined.

Week-12: L
Beebe amends for fumble with TD as Vikes top Panthers 28-27
Beebe caught a 10-yard touchdown pass with 46 seconds left shortly after he muffed a punt that let Carolina pad its lead. Then Joey Slye's 54-yard field goal try went wide left with 1 second remaining, preserving the Vikings victory over the Panthers.

Week-13:
BYE WEEK

Week-15: L
Packers outlast Panthers 24-16 for 4th straight victory
Aaron Jones rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown, Aaron Rodgers threw for a season-low 143 yards but produced a touchdown pass, his 40th of the season. Carolina's Teddy Bridgewater was 21 of 35 for 258 yards with a touchdown run, but he also had a critical fumble. D.J. Moore caught six passes for 131 yards, and Joey Slye kicked three field goals.

Week-16: W
Washington beaten by Panthers 20-13, fails to clinch NFC East
Carolina (5-10) snapped a three-game skid behind 197 yards passing from Teddy Bridgewater. Curtis Samuel had five catches for 106 yards and was the Panthers' leading rusher with 52 yards on seven carries. Dwayne Haskins turned the ball over three times before getting benched, Steven Sims muffed a punt return that turned into a Panthers touchdown and Washington (6-9) blew its first chance to clinch the NFC East

Week-17: Sunday, Jan 3

Bank of America capacity will be adjusted to 1,500 for the Panthers finale against New Orleans. The decision was made in collaboration with local government and public health officials. In-bowl attendance will be limited to families and friends of the Panthers and Saints. In addition, some private suites will be open.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule seems genuinely excited to know Sunday's finale against New Orleans is important for the Saints in terms of playoff seedings. He wants his team to understand a playoff atmosphere and this is as close as he can get to it. “I want to play our best game. For the Saints, they're playing for a 1 seed. This is like a playoff game for them, so we're going to get their absolute best.''

Panthers coach Matt Rhule says he would lean toward Christian McCaffrey (quad) not playing in the finale based on what he knows and has seen. That would mean the running back has missed 13 of 16 games this season.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule opened his zoom call today going in great detail on why it was more important to win against Washington than to get a higher draft pick. He reminded that since the Super Bowl year in 2015 the team had gone 5-14 in December and January, and that winning in those months is most important for building a winning culture. He talked to the team about it as well. "I just want them to understand this is a learned skill,'' Rhule said.

So the Panthers will have three active quarterbacks in Teddy Bridgewater, PJ Walker and Tommy Stevens. With running backs Christian McCaffrey and Mike Davis out it could be an opportunity to run Stevens in the wildcat. Otherwise, the running game will be handled by Rodney Smith, Trenton Cannon, Curtis Samuel and Alex Armah.

Panthers' inactives: QB Will Grier, RB Christian McCaffrey, RB Mike Davis, LT Russell Okung, DE Brian Burns, DT Woodrow Hamilton, DB Natrell Jamerson.

A lot can change between now and tonight but the Panthers as things stand at the moment would draft ninth. If you're on the Carolina-needs-a-quarterback bandwagon only two or three of the teams ahead of them seemingly would be in the market for a signal-caller.

Saints rout Panthers 33-7 to earn No. 2 seed in NFC playoffs
Drew Brees threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns and the Saints (12-4) had five interceptions. Sanders needed eight catches Sunday to reach an incentive clause in his contract and earn $500,000 for catching 60 passes this season. He caught nine passes. Carolina's Teddy Bridgewater was benched midway through the third quarter after throwing his second interception in the end zone into double coverage.

Carolina: 5 - 11

Matt Rhule doesn't commit to Teddy Bridgewater as 2021 starter
He finished with 15 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions, including two in the end zone in Sunday’s 33-7 loss to New Orleans. He had only one touchdown pass in the fourth quarter all season and was 0-8 in games in which the Panthers had a chance to win or tie on their last possession.

Source: Former Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins to visit Carolina Panthers
Panthers coach Matt Rhule recruited Haskins, 23, when he was the head coach at Temple. Asked about that after Haskins was released, Rhule said players who were that highly recruited "didn't spend too much time talking to us.''

Why Dwayne Haskins could be part of offensive changes for Panthers

Change is coming to the Carolina Panthers offensively, and it runs deeper than coaching changes that have happened or could happen. Former Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. was in for a visit Monday, a sign coach Matt Rhule and his staff are looking to improve the depth behind Teddy Bridgewater, even if it means adding a controversial player. Carolina is also considering using the No. 8 pick of the draft on a quarterback, which means the long-term future of Bridgewater is in doubt after 2021 when he has a $23 million cap hit. Carolina is projected to have approximately $14.5 million in cap space in 2021. It can add another $14.5 million by releasing defensive tackle Kawann Short, who is set to count $20.8 million against this year’s cap.

Scott Fitterer has agreed to a five year deal to be the Panthers general manager. "We went through a thorough process and it was a great final four," owner David Tepper said. "We thought Scott was the best fit for the organization."

The Panthers have joined a public-private partnership with the State of North Carolina, and backed by Gov. Roy Cooper, to support the goal of 1 million COVID-19 vaccinations by July 4. ‘'We stand ready to join Honeywell, Atrium Health and Governor Cooper in the effort to administer vaccines and defeat this virus,'' owner David Tepper said. ‘'We hope that our participation will serve as a model for other venues."

Add the Philadelphia Eagles to the list of teams Panthers OC Joe Brady has interviewed with for a head coaching position, a league source confirmed. The other teams include Atlanta, Houston, the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets. Brady is only 31 but appears destined to be a head coach if not this year in the near future.

Former Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan selected to the college football hall of fame. Carolina made him the 11th pick of the 2001 draft and in 2003 he helped the team reach the Super Bowl, where lost in the loss to New England was his SB record 18 tackles.

Scott Fitterer has risk-taking mentality needed to improve Carolina Panthers
Fitterer inherits an initial to-do list that includes settling the quarterback position that Teddy Bridgewater didn’t nail down this past season, re-signing right tackle Taylor Moton, finding a left tackle and likely moving on from injury-plagued defensive tackle Kawann Short to clear $14.5 million in cap space.

Matt Rhule finally will get a chance to coach Alabama QB Mac Jones next week at the Senior Bowl. The Panthers coach tried to get Jones to come to Baylor out of high school and Jones told him, “Thanks, but no thanks.''

One of Scott Fitterer's requirements for a franchise quarterback is "someone who can win when the game is on the line in the fourth quarter.'' Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgeater was 0-8 this past season when he had a chance on his final drive to win or tie a game.

That the Panthers are hiring Sean Ryan as their quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, will increase speculation that Carolina will pursue Houston QB Deshaun Watson in a trade. Ryan was Houston's QB coach and worked with Watson from 2017 and '18. He was with the New York Giants in 2012 when Carolina coach Matt Rhule was there. The plot thickens.
