Don't forget: THE WALKING DEAD STARTS ON SUNDAY!!

Somebody I know from Commiecon showed me this Walking Dead Google Map that has awesome links to scenes from the comic and locations where everything happens. Obvious potential spoilers for those of you who haven't read it, but truckloads of WIN for everyone else!

I knew Amy was going to get torn to bits. Now her sister will be infected for getting her hands in it.

And gravedigger is going to be one of the "smart" leader zombies after he regenerates. he'll "remember" them.

And then of course, there's Earl.

I don't think the sister is gonna die, as the blood wouldn't be infectious until after the zombie comes back. And even though the series is already kinda veering away from the comics I think she plays a pretty key role for a while yet. As for Merle, my strict speculation is still that he is going to replace the "Governor" character and will likely be the main villain of next year's season. It doesn't start until October, so they're gonna have a whole year to play with during which time they can say he muscled into a group and took over. Like Rick said, people look up to a person because they can, and the Vatos already laid groundwork by saying they'd found only the dregs of society in the post-zombie Atlanta.

As for your other comment: I feel a distinct sense of "LOST-style storytelling" but partly because Kirkman is just really good. The end bit with the bright light is kind of a direct swipe, but what I've really noticed is the way they anticipate what the audience is gonna ask and answer it in the script. I've found very few glaring plot holes or stumbles in the script so far. It's tight in ways LOST never could manage, and I think part of LOST's big failure at the very end was that they simply left too much dangling for too long. This story is straightforward: how do you keep on going when you know you're pretty well screwed?

I just read on Twitter that all the writers were fired! srsly. Seems weird to fire the writers when so many people are really liking the show (not me, I'm still too chicken to watch).

Just saw the episode tonight.

Kind of wondering how Merle drives with one hand and changes gear.

@ Cassie maybe they feel relatively safe with 80 issues of comic book to draw on. Wonder what the problem was though. If Kirkman is the one who did the firing maybe they were trying too hard to assert themselves and make changes. That's his baby zombie. Don't fuck with success...

There's not that many scary, tense moments.
Though even I was on edge covering my eyes when Amy was waiting by her sister. Kept thinking she was gonna get bit and infected before she could give her sister the fatal headshot.

The comments after the article are a huge snark fest. Sweet Zeus. There are a lot of people with hate in their hearts for Darabont.

The replacement of a stable of writers with freelancers could be good. It could also suck. I certainly hope it doesn't. Right now I'm much more bothered about the prospect of potentially waiting a full year for a second season.

Well, you know writers are gonna stick together. I think by firing the writers I am glad there's a gap between seasons, just so they sort it out. Of course long delays will bring up a bit of a "Walt problem" with Rick's kid...

Kirkman's still going to be involved in it, isn't he? So I'm not too concerned.

About aging: there's several points in the book where they stay in one place for months at a time and there's big jumps forward in time. But they aren't really near those points yet...
