Don't forget: THE WALKING DEAD STARTS ON SUNDAY!!

Thoughts:

These people need machine guns to kill Zombies efficiently.

The Zombie actors are really, really, really good.

Believe it or not I have a major continuity nitpick with the second episode. I haven't seen it yet and don't want to spoil but it has to do with how they get through the zombie crowd: if I am in an environment with a highly deadly communicable disease with no known cure that is proven to be passed through fluid contact, THE LAST THING I'm GONNA DO IS SMEAR IT ALL OVER ME! That's like saying "Hey guess what? They can't smell AIDS!"

They literally say "don't get it on your skin or in your eyes". It's also why they wear huge coats and gloves.

(episode was good)

Yeah, good episode, I hope we see the Chinese guy again. Don't really care about the people outside the city aside from thingy's kid. His wife can get bit for all I care.

The "I'll tell my family about ol' Whatshisname" thing was a little maudlin, but everything else was good, so ok.

I'm sure we'll see Glen again (NOT A SPOILER.)

And yes it is hard to like Lori given that the affair with Shane is ongoing and not just something that happened once when they thought they were about to die (but I'm sure it'll be addresed in more detail in upcoming episodes...)

Well at least there's that, but still...having seen what happens and with zero cure, I ain't getting that stuff anywhere near my skin.

Exactly, and then it RAINS lol, but while they're walking about, you get to see WICKED zombie character development. Different levels of zombie consciousness, etc. Pack mentality and reactivity.

remember in the remake when they discover they don't react to dogs, just people? Same idea.

I think we saw just a little of that in the pilot too, there was one xzombie in particular who turns to actually scope out Rick when he's running for the tank. I think this series will turn out to be fantastic if they can keep up this level of writing, and with Kirkman involved and the graphic novel as a template they should do very well. Now I just gotta find a reliable way to watch it so I'm not talking out my ass so much.

Oh wait, this is the internet. Never mind the ass comment, I'm good.

Haven't seen this week's yet but finally caught ep 2. Lots of interesting little bits of zombie stuff in there, and not just falling off the heroes. Like the use of rocks, and the eating of rodents. All things we saw from the original NotLD zombies, but which fell away in later movies in favor of "Braaiiiinnnnnnz." This is my favorite type of zombie, and the most entertaining and "realistic" IMHO. Zombies should not be able to run all that fast, since their bodies are atrophying and rotting away. These zombies showed varying states of decay, which was awesome, but they also showed the rudimentary functions of the brain like tool use and basic sensory input which would follow for this type of creature. No sprinting, no super strength, just wave after wave of walking dead.

Best scene in the episode? Rick pulling zombie-guy's wallet. "He was a guy with a family..." If I can find a reliable way to watch this show I am going to love every minute...

The thing that surprised me in the second ep was the zombie who climbed over the chain link fence. I'd noticed the more intelligent zombie in the first ep and the fact that some were using rocks as tools in the second ep but the fence scaling one made me seriously start thinking about zombie health and such like. Is it that fresher zombies are smarter and progressively degrade and/or does feeding actually contribute to how well a zombie stays in shape?

Well if a living body thrives when it has fresh blood in it, then pressumably a dead body does too.

I really thought he would have dropped the grenade down on the crowd at the bottom of the ladder.

3rd ep was slow, but good. I feel recent comic plot themes are being introduced with this ep...not unlike True Blood, the series will borrow from it's source but be a different animal. I can't wait for next week, even if it does mean less forward than behind.

Yeah, it was definitely a change of pace this week, but it was very worthwhile. The characters are very varied and interesting, so it's not a letdown to be spending time watching them rather than having loads of blood splattering action.

I wonder what they'll be doing in the city next week? Still looking Merle (who ain't been quite right lately)? Got to be more than finding a way to pick up the bag of guns.

How did Merle get off the roof without unlocking the padlock? BECAUSE THE HELICOPTER LANDED AND RESCUED HIM, THAT'S HOW (I still think the helicopter was real.)

They're set up quite a lot of recurring characters who can be shockingly killed off in the next few weeks (or not.)
