Dallas Cowboys to induct Jimmy Johnson into Ring of Honor, Jerry Jones says

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones did not say when it would happen, but he made an announcement Thursday night that many hoped would come sooner rather than later: Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor. Johnson will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend, and Jones has said in the past that he did not want to take away from that moment when discussing when or if Johnson would be put into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor. After a 1-15 record in 1989, his first year after taking over for Tom Landry, Johnson led the Cowboys back to prominence, with wins in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII. He and Jones had a falling out after the second championship, but Johnson is given a large amount of credit for the Cowboys' win in Super Bowl XXX under coach Barry Switzer, a victory that made Dallas the first franchise to win three Super Bowls in four years. In five seasons with the Cowboys, Johnson had a 44-36 record and went 7-1 in the postseason.

Dallas Cowboys still wonder 'what if' as Jimmy Johnson enters HOF
In five seasons with the Cowboys, Johnson had a 44-36 record and went 7-1 in the postseason. In recent years, Jones has expressed regret at not showing deference to Johnson, saying, "Ridiculous. My role here, my job was to keep it together."

'How 'bout them Cowboys?' The inside story of Jimmy Johnson's legendary line
But more than beating the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII, Johnson's career is mostly defined by what happened inside Candlestick Park on Jan. 17, 1993, when the Cowboys beat San Francisco 30-20.

"And only thing else I got to say is, 'How 'bout them Cowboys?'" phrase has defined the Cowboys ever since, becoming a large part of NFL history.

QB Dak Prescott throws for second straight day in recovery from latissimus strain

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will throw for a second straight day at training camp, if not take part in a full practice, as he continues to ramp up his work from a latissimus strain suffered on July 28. He is expected to go through the quarterback school, which are individual drills and situational work, but not do any real throwing during team periods. On Tuesday, Prescott threw roughly 30 passes to Amari Cooper on a side field.

'Hard Knocks' features Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott's desire, recovery

From the start of the episode, the camera focused on the scar on Prescott's surgically repaired right ankle. Prescott's 2020 season ended in Week 5 when he suffered a dislocation and compound fracture of his ankle during the Cowboys' game against the New York Giants. Before suffering the strain, Prescott was upset at a lack of work in the first few days of training camp in Oxnard, California. McCarthy wanted to limit his repetitions, but Prescott, as seen in the episode, wanted in on the action.

After Wednesday's practice, Prescott said he has not felt any residual or unexpected pain after his first two throwing sessions, and he would like to play against the Texans.

Source: Dallas Cowboys DT Neville Gallimore (dislocated elbow) out for 6-8 weeks
In order for Gallimore to be eligible to return this season, the Cowboys cannot place him on injured reserve until Sept. 1, a day after the final cuts.

One trait Cowboys O-lineman Zack Martin owes his success to is ....
Martin made the Pro Bowl and was a first- or second-team All-Pro in each of his first six seasons. A concussion and calf injury forced him to miss six games last season, ending his streak of accolades.
