Sources: falcons signing CB A.J. Terrell to 4-year $81M deal
In 2021, Terrell had three interceptions and 16 passes defensed (sixth in the NFL). He has not had an interception since then but has 36 pass breakups over his four NFL seasons. Terrell is now the second-highest-paid cornerback on a per-year basis at $20.25 million.

Sources: Browns trade kicker Cade York to Commanders
Cleveland selected York out of LSU in the fourth round of the 2022 draft and he rewarded them immediately with a 58-yard game winning field goal to beat Carolina in his debut. But York struggled thereafter, making 24 of 32 kicks his rookie season. He was 9-for-12 on kicks between 30 and 49 yards.

Pro Football HOF cuts waiting period for coaches to 1 year
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced a series of changes to its annual selection process on Friday, including the reduction of the waiting period for coaches from five seasons to one. Under the new rules, one coach will be named a finalist for each Hall of Fame class.

Sources: Chiefs make Creed Humphrey NFL's highest-paid center
The 25-year-old joined the Chiefs in 2021 as a second-round draft pick from Oklahoma and immediately became a starter. He has been a solid pass protector. In 2023, he ranked second among the NFL's interior offensive linemen in pass block win rate at 98.8%. Ahead of him was his Chiefs teammate, guard Joe Thuney.

Sources: Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb agrees to four-year, $136M deal

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has ended his holdout and agreed to a four-year, $136 million deal that makes him the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. The deal includes a $38 million signing bonus, the largest ever given to a wide receiver, and $100 million guaranteed, per sources. Lamb was set to play the 2024 season on the $17.99 million fifth-year option of his rookie deal and become a free agent after the season, but the Cowboys were able to lock him up through the 2028 season with the new deal. The deal makes Lamb the highest-paid wide receiver in Cowboys' history.

The Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson tops the market at $35 million a season. The Philadelphia Eagles' A.J. Brown checks in at $32 million per year, the Detroit Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown at $30.003 million and the Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill at $30 million.

By missing training camp and three preseason games, Lamb could be fined more than $3 million. But the team has the ability to rescind the penalty since he was on his rookie contract. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Lamb's return will boost the morale of his team. Lamb has 32 touchdown catches in his first four seasons, only Hayes (45) and Bryant (40) have more in team history. He ended last season with a touchdown in nine consecutive games. The Cowboys approached Lamb, 25, with an extension in 2023, but talks never really progressed. He skipped the voluntary offseason program for the first time in his career.

Cowboys to sign RB Dalvin Cook to practice squad, sources say
A second-round draft selection of the Vikings in 2017, Cook is the third-leading rusher in Minnesota franchise history. His best season came in 2020, when he ran for 1,557 yards with 16 touchdowns. He also has 236 career receptions for 1,872 yards and five touchdowns.

**********
As a member of the practice squad, Cook would be eligible to be called up to the gameday roster for Dallas' Sept. 8 opener against the Browns

Sources: Lions to sign WR Tim Patrick to practice squad
The Broncos released Patrick on Tuesday as they trimmed down to 53 players. Patrick, 30, has 143 receptions for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns over 55 games in his career.

**********
Patrick missed the past two seasons due to injury but returned to participate fully in training camp this year and had five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in the preseason.

Sources: 49ers, Brandon Aiyuk reach 4-year, $120M extension

The dramatic roller-coaster ride that has been the high-stakes contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk ended where it all began when this started more than six months ago -- with the Niners and Aiyuk sticking together for the long haul. Aiyuk and the Niners on Thursday agreed to terms on a four-year, $120 million contract extension that will keep him in San Francisco through the 2028 season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. It's the same deal that has been on the table from the 49ers since Aug. 12, league sources told Schefter.

In 2023, Aiyuk had a breakout season, leading the Niners in receiving yards (1,342) while finishing ninth in the NFL in receiving yards per game (83.9), second in yards per reception (17.9) and first in yards per target (12.9) on his way to a second-team All-Pro nod. His return also means the Niners could have the same starting 11 on offense from last year. Aiyuk stayed away from the team's offseason program and he also did not show up for the full-squad minicamp in early June, incurring more than $101,000 in fines as the negotiations reached a temporary stalemate. In the meantime, other receivers around the league reeled in big contracts:
