Barry Sanders says he experience heart related health scare
Sanders did not offer details on the exact nature of his condition but described the experience as "unexpected" and "a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant about our physical well-being, even when we are feeling fine."

Jacksonville approves $1.4B renovation of Jaguars stadium
The Jacksonville City Council voted 14-1 Tuesday night to approve an agreement between the Jaguars and the city on a $1.4 billion renovation of EverBank Stadium. That brings the Jaguars one step closer to securing the long-term stability of the franchise, with the final hurdle getting the agreement approved by 24 of the NFL's 32 owners at the league's meetings in October in Atlanta. The Jaguars and the city have agreed to each contribute $625 million to the renovation, but the city also has agreed to pay $150 million over the next two seasons on maintenance and repairs to prepare the stadium for construction. That means the city will be responsible for 55% of the total cost. In addition, the agreement calls for Jaguars owner Shad Khan to be responsible for cost overruns of the renovation as well as 80.4% of the game-day expenses.

NFL tells teams it won't hold supplemental draft this year
The NFL informed its teams Wednesday that it will not be holding a supplemental draft this year, according to a league memo obtained by ESPN. It's the fourth year out of the past five in which the league has elected not to hold a supplemental draft, which is the league's right under the collective bargaining agreement. The supplemental draft, when it exists, is for players who for one reason or another were not eligible when the April draft was held. It runs for seven rounds, and any team making a selection forfeits its pick from the corresponding round in the next year's April draft. (Ergo, the Cardinals surrendered their 2020 fifth-round pick by selecting Thompson in 2019.) Bernie Kosar, Cris Carter, Terrelle Pryor and Josh Gordon are among the NFL players who have entered the league via the supplemental draft.

Roger Goodell on Sunday Ticket verdict: NFL feels 'very strongly about our position'
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league is committed to "following the litigation all the way" in a nearly decade-long defense of its premium Sunday Ticket product. A Los Angeles jury ordered the NFL last month to pay $4.7 billion in damages to the residential class and another $96 million to the commercial class of a class action lawsuit that accused the league of violating antitrust laws in distributing out-of-market Sunday afternoon games on the subscription service. The league could be liable for a total of $14.39 billion because damages are tripled under federal antitrust laws.The next step is a post-trial motion hearing on July 31, when the NFL will ask Judge Philip Gutierrez to set aside the verdict. If the verdict isn't set aside, the NFL will appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court. A petition to the Supreme Court could follow. Meanwhile, Goodell expressed optimism that NFL owners will agree to change league policy to allow private equity ownership of its teams by the end of 2024. If that happens, the league will likely cap investments at 10% per team. A committee has been working on the details since September.

Bill Belichick joining 'Inside the NFL' for upcoming season
Bill Belichick has added a second media job for the upcoming season. The CW Network announced Thursday that Belichick will be one of the analysts on "Inside the NFL." Belichick, who coached the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles during his 24 years at the helm, will also appear on the "ManningCast" during ESPN's "Monday Night Football." Belichick also joined "The Pat McAfee Show" for its NFL draft coverage in April and is scheduled to appear weekly on the show during the NFL season. Belichick joins Ryan Clark, Chad Johnson and Chris Long. Johnson and Long each played one season for Belichick in New England. Haynes was voted MVP in 1960, when he also won Rookie of the Year honors. He established career highs of 1,049 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in 1962. Haynes also played for the Denver Broncos (1965-66), Miami Dolphins (1967) and New York Jets (1967). He finished his career with 4,630 yards and 46 touchdowns on the ground and accumulated 3,535 receiving yards and 20 scores on 287 receptions. Haynes also returned a punt for a score in 1965 to go with his kickoff return TD in 1961.

Vikings, OT Christian Darrisaw agree to 4-year extension
The Minnesota Vikings have carried their busy offseason right up to the eve of training camp, adding one more contract extension to their list of moves Tuesday by agreeing to terms with left tackle Christain Darrisaw on a four-year deal. Darrisaw, the Vikings' first-round pick in 2021 (No. 23 overall), will receive up to $113 million in new money, including $77 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Darrisaw's deal includes $43.7 million guaranteed at signing, the source said.Darrisaw became a starter early in his rookie season and has held down his position ever since, slowed only by a series of relatively minor injuries. He missed five games in 2021, three in 2022 and two in 2023. Otherwise, he has endeared himself to the organization with exceptionally versatile play at the position, demonstrating a level of comfort with both in-line blocking and blocking out in space.
