If I disappear it'll be because I got a job or was guilted/forced into making more of an effort to job search by my Mom. Either way, my mom has started cracking the whip. I've missed several free concerts, movies and other events because she refused to let us go and threatened to kick us out if we did. To be fair we have been quite lazy in our job efforts, and sleeping in until noon or later. She did say I'd be allowed to go out and celebrate my birthday though. I love my Mom and know she's practicing tough love but I'll be glad to get a job, get an apartment and be free-er to come and go as I please.

My grown daughter lives with me. I know it is uncomfortable for her at times but it is just as uncomfortable for me at times too. I still love her and she me but it has to be adults while living in the same house with your parents. It is hard for your parents to stop being your parents when they are still supporting you too.

Times is hard though even for people doing aggressive job searches.

Yeah you understand. I've tried and failed to explain that to my Mom. She expects me to find and/or apply for at least 100 jobs a week as well as go out and interview for them too.
 
It has been in the news for weeks that although there are jobs, employers aren't hiring. And, when they do hire, they don't want to hire someone who doesn't already have a job. How do these idiots expect the economy to improve if people aren't working and have money to spend? We're a consumer driven economy. Consumerism requires a person to have money. A person has to have gainful employment in order to have money. It isn't like we can print that stuff at home without going to prison.
 
well I'll try and make an effort to find something. Thats all I can do. My mom said if I don't get up 7 AM M-F and try and find something she's going to kick me out into the street.
 
I understand her POV. She knows you'd be happier if you were out on your own, self-supporting and all that.

Let's hope for better times and they happen soon.

Yes, let's hope. My food stamps run out in December. She already made a side comment that "You should have a job by then"
