Star Trek 12 news/countdown thread

It's cute that you guys are trying to find ways in which this makes sense, but I'm just going to keep assuming the worst of this movie without knowing anything about it.

Peace.

Well that's quite positive then. We've basically seen stuff from three scenes in the trailer, and by the sounds of things one of them only lasts ten minutes before they venture off somewhere else. Maybe this leaves room for more explorationy bits before spending ages on Earth and some Klingon place.

I don't have a problem with the Enterprise travelling through an atmosphere or underwater, since windsheer and water pressure can't really be any worse than travelling beyond the speed of light. But you'd think they'd send a smaller, better adapted ship for surveillance.

Well actually.

The ship doesn't travel faster than light, it's encassed in a bubble of space that travels faster than light. There's no stress on the ship from FTL travel (though there is from impulse travel).

On the other hand, shut the fuck up your nerd it's a fucking movie if the writers say the Enterprise can go underwater it can go underwater.

Watching a trailer on YT for STxII Benedict Cumberbatch's character, TEH EVEL VILLIAN, says something about it all NOT being real. Perhaps that's a hint &/or indication xII takes place on Talos IV(?). Maybe all of Abrams' Trek is just illusions created by the Talosians for Captain Pike's amusement & pleasure? Then you may ask WHY didn't they make Pike the hero then, as opposed to Kirk? Maybe in these particular illusions they're satisfying a need by Pike (perhaps subconscious) for the "life" he's "living", &/or that particular "life", to be as realistic & believable as possible.

Just a thought.

There's no entry in Memory Alpha for him. If it's not deliberate misdirection, this could be an entirely new character.

Maybe Cumberbatch's character is actually TEH HERO? Perhaps all this mumbo jumbo coming out about STxII is deliberate misinformation? Benedict is made to SEEM like TEH EVEL VILLIAN, when in fact he's THE SAVIOUR OF THE FEDERATION (and the Alpha & Beta Quadrants to boot!). Maybe THAT's the twist we're all in for?
