Star Wars: Rebels

GOOD EPISODE. Even though they were back on Lothal it was cool that things had changed since we were last there. Killing off Ezra's old friend right away was a good way to show that, and to show that Thrawn will actually fuck people up when he needs to. The big walker sitting on the smaller walked was a good use of walkers.

Yeah I liked this episode quite a lot. As I JUST MENTIONED in my review of some season one episodes of Rebels IN ANOTHER THREAD I think Lothal and the people on it are kind of boring, but this episode did show just how much the Empire can fuck up a planet.

I had totally forgotten about Ezra's farmer friend who only showed up in one bad episode over two seasons ago, so his death didn't have that much impact, but it did show Thrawn being as ruthless as he's supposed to be. I would like Thrawn to actually have a big win pretty soon, otherwise all his blustering of letting the Rebels win because it helps him will just end up looking silly. I guess they're saving that for the mid-season finale, though.

TIE DEFENDERS ARE FUCKING COOL and I'm glad they're canon again and I can't wait for Thrawn to make some and have theme be awesome. They talk about them in this week's episode of Rebels Recon!

Poor Maul. He just wants a new brother. But Ezra will never be as cool as Savage Oppress.

So Ezra's going to get all jealous of Sabine having a darksaber now.

NO VENTRESS GHOST BECAUSE SHE'S STILL ALIVE.

Good episode! Although, I can imagine this episode would be pretty hard to follow if you hadn't watched Clone Wars.

I hope they don't keep the search of Obi-Wan going too long, both because the audience already knows where he is, and because they could just ask Bail Organa and he would tell them!

AT LEAST ANDI'S STILL HERE.

I wonder how we'll actually see the Obi-Wan/Maul fight since they never show anything that doesn't have the Ghost crew present (or is related to the Ghost crew)? Maybe it's all an Ezra dream.

Choppa will probably be there stealing his stuff.

I wonder if Obi Wan will get injured, since this is what, two years before his last fight with Vader?

It will seem a bit strange if he finishes the fight still leaping and a swirling, then goes to fight Vader with a soft poke here and there.

...I was sure whisky's post said "two weeks before his fight with Vader", that's why I posted what I did. But it says "two years".

Maybe Vader and Obi-Wan fought so cautiously because they were each scared of the other getting the high ground.

So anyone catch the two new Saw Gerrera episodes today?

Of all the episodes I have seen, they were two of them.

It was...pretty good. Rebels often goes for "good enough" rather than anything exceptional so it reached that standard. Saw was used a bit better than Rogue One in that he actually had a conflict with the main character, but it was all forgotten as soon as the Imperials showed up. And his creepy laugh was weird. The Imperials showing up felt a bit pointless by the way, as if they were just there to give the episode enough stuff for a two parter. But it did mean we got a cool scene of Sabine kicking bottom with her jetpack!

Remember a few episodes ago when they fought Battle Droids and it felt special because they'd never done that before and at the end Ezra ENDED THE CLONE WARS? It was a bit disappointing that they fought them again here. But I guess they wanted to re-use those models!

So about three years after this epsidoe there's going to be a crazy Geonosian Queen treating battle droids like her children but I guess Klik-Klak was on another part of the planet from her? I liked that the Geonosians were treated like sentient beings rather than gross bugs to kill even if Ezra was a bit patronising as usual.

Chopper shooting around on his middle wheel is cute.

Sabine doesn't like sand.

Yeah that was good. Saw felt like a nice mid-point between the Clone Wars and Rogue One versions of his character, but I kind of wish that they gave at least some indication of why he's so crazy in Rogue One, and also part robot.

Showing the Geonosian as an actual person was really good, and shows how kind of fucked up that we were cheering on the people invading their planet back in The Clone Wars. Ezra calling him 'Klik-Klak' is kind of messed up, though? Like if someone was talking to someone from another country and said "I don't understand your name, I'll just call you Ungo Bungo - come along Ungo!" it would just be seen as really racist. But everyone calls him Klik-Klak and no one ever learnt his real name. :(

I think it's implied that the queen we saw in the Darth Vader comic was the one that came out of the egg he had, though...

I liked the cool Imperial Captain and I hope we see her again. I also liked Sabine kicking ass because Sabine.

In Rebels Recon they go into the whole "if the Geonosians had the Death Star plans then what did Galen Erso do?" thing which has already been explained elsewhere but it's nice to have it here I guess!
