The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4 (YES IT'S A FUCKING KIDS SHOW ALRIGHT)

That trailer's really cool. So much Clyni action! Mostly from one episode by the looks of it, but still...

I love those robots or mech suits or whatever they ares.
 
I thought the girl on the phone was Michelle Ryan for a second but it's not obviously so why am I even posting this!?
 
Hey that was pretty good!

I mean it was a bit of Phil Ford just reminding us of everything else he's written - even Dreamland - but still it was pretty good!

The guy who played Mr. Dread who pretty good and not too Hugo Weaving. He was better than the badly animated CGI version anyway!

Always nice to have an Ice Warriors reference and to see the Osirian pyramid WHICH SARAH JANE WENT TO.

Evil Rani was really hot.
 
How exactly does one "prepare" to be incinerated? And why even give a warning rather than just incinerating right away?

See, I already know about these aliens because I watched the episodes they were in (I'm not watching anymore.)
 
It was a decent two-parter. I'm glad they didn't immediately add a new kid to the team and we got lots of Clyni action.

The best thing in my view was Sarah Jane's empathy toward Ocean, whose life had obvious parallels with her own. She'd encountered aliens, had a life changing experience at a fairly young age and then spent her time since searching for them. How she managed to miss running into any in Ealing, I don't know. It's the alien invasion capital of the world.
 
Although at the end of the episode they kind of seemed to be laughing at Ocean again and just let her go off to continue her futile search.
 
Eeeeee hehe okay yes so that was enjoyable.

I mean true it was one big giant fanwank but unlike most of RTD's wanks it was a wank about how great all of Doctor Who is instead of how great RTD is.

Jo Grant was great as her mad self. Nice to see she's still married to that welsh enviromentalist she met in The Green Death. Liz Shaw is still alive and on the moon (BUT WHERE'S HARRY??).

And I love anything that actually shows us the Third and Fourth Doctors on screen.


AND of course, Matt Smith. And it's great they actually gave him, like, 2 minutes of things to do before the episode ended! I love Matt Smith. He's wonderful.


Of course the episode still had a lot of bad RTD tropes. The "We're not [ALIEN] we're [ALIEEN], and we HATE [ALIEN]!!" which I always hated. Why can't two different coloured aliens be of the same race (like, y'know, humans)? Why must they hate each other?

There's also the aliens that are actually animals on Earth BUT BIGGER!!!!!!

And of course there was the horrible foreshadowing that RTD has never been good at. "He is coming back" isn't the most subtle thing.


But Rani was hot.
(Evil?) UNIT lady was hot.
I liked it mostly! Matt Smith!
