WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT FOR BREAKFAST??

I'd LIKE to eat an egg white omelet with cheddar cheese, and green pepper. However, since I'm in the car by 5:30 am on weekdays, I settle for a huge travel mug of coffee and a toasted bagel, plain.

^ yeah, what I'D LIKE and what I actually run out the door with are two different things...I'd like someone to make me breakfast! But since that's a LOL, I usually have two large lattés (one before working out, one after) and TRY to eat yogurt and fruit...... But often end up eating peanut butter on multi grain toast.

If I have to eat breakfast food for breakfast then I want grits, bacon, fried eggs, and toast.

If I get up early enough to make breakfast or meet someone at the diner for breakfast, I prefer scrambled eggs, wheat toast with butter, sausage and coffee. If I make this at home, I also like grits and orange marmalade for my toast. If at the diner, I'll take hash browns and whatever fruit jam they have.

If I don't get up early enough to make a nice breakfast, then a bowl of cereal with milk or some peanut butter on a slice of wheat toast will do. Sometimes I'll stop by McDonald's for a steak and egg burrito and large coffee. If I make something at home, I make myself a cup of coffee a work.

If I'm running late and don't have time to eat before I get to work, then I have instant oatmeal and a cup of coffee. I especially like oatmeal for breakfast in the winter. At my old desk I could look out the window and watch the sun rise while I had my instant oatmeal and coffee. The trees block the view in my new office but maybe that will improve when the leaves fall.

Sometimes I just like to sleep in and think about having breakfast for dinner.

I get about four different cereals and combine them, usually cornflakes, oats, bran and rice bubbles. Then I chop up a piece of fruit and put that one top, drench in in soy milk.

Sometimes I have french toast.

I always have coffee. I'm looking for a decent 32oz mug, haven't found one that doesn't have corporate logos on it.

I don't think you've ever had them prepared properly, DAMN YANKEE. Most of YOU PEOPLE put sugar on them *shudder*. Grits should be savory.

Hmmm...the grits I've had have been bland. Sugar might actually be an improvement.

p.s. one day I want to go and visit Cassie and find out what grits taste like! That is something I have not had here in Canada. :(

what are grits? (can't find them in my dictionary)

I usually have a cup of tea and some pretzel bread with butter or whole meal rolls with smoked ham and a few slices of cucumber or tomato or radishes. Or a wholemeal roll with butter and honey or homemade jam.
Atm those lovely seedless grapes are rather cheap so I have some dark rye bread, cheese and grapes for breakfast.
In the weekends when I have more time for breakfast I have a homemade muesli or a boiled egg in addition. Or freshly baked waffles or scones with sour cream and homemade strawberry jam.

Is there a law against sending grits in the mail? I could send you some with DETAILED instructions (they're not that hard to make, really). I prefer the 5 minute type of grits, as opposed to instant or the kind you need to cook for a long time. I still cook them much longer than 5 minutes, so they're extra creamy.

@The Call of Nature, grits are ground corn, basically.

The wiki article is kinda funny, I like how whoever wrote it can't decide if "grits" is singular or plural. The word "grits" is plural, IMO, since there are lots of grits in a bowl of grits! Also, when it says "Grits can also be fried in a pan or mold to create a firm block." they've got it backwards. You cook them first in water, then you can mold the grits into a firm block, slice it and pan fry it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grits
