WWE SmackDown results, highlights: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens vs. The Usos rematch set, Solo Sikoa beats Riddle
April 14
WWE SmackDown is getting a WrestleMania makeover when Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens make the first defense of their undisputed tag team championships against their bitter rivals, The Usos. The WrestleMania 39 rematch was made official on Friday night. Though it appears that Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are moving on from their rivalry -- for now -- the war between The Bloodline and the tag team champions rages on. Owens and Zayn have found a valuable ally in Riddle to even up the numbers against Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. The latest episode of the blue brand laid the groundwork for a tag team title rematch and hosted a main event pitting Riddle vs. Sikoa. The undisputed tag team championships weren't the only titles that were given new direction on Friday night. Newly crowned women's tag team champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez have their first challengers; meanwhile, intercontinental kingpin GUNTHER has a new foe in mind. This week's SmackDown also featured the first televised appearance of Shinsuke Nakamura in 2023.
A WWE roster draft will take place on the Apr. 28 episode of SmackDown and continue on the May 1 episode of Raw.

WWE Raw results, highlights: Live recap, grades as Brock Lesnar responds to Cody Rhodes' Backlash challenge
Brock Lesnar isn't exactly a man who runs away from a fight. So, when "The Beast" shows up on Raw on Monday night, it's likely he'll be there to accept Cody Rhodes' invitation to go one-on-one at the upcoming WWE Backlash pay-per-view. After losing his shot at undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania, Rhodes was looking for a tag team partner to face Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a tag match. After agreeing to battle alongside Rhodes, Lesnar ended up turning just before the start of the match, brutally attacking Rhodes and leaving him down and out.The attack led to Rhodes throwing down a challenge for a match at Backlash during last week's episode of Raw, looking to not only get revenge but continue to try and blaze a path back to a shot at the titles.
WWE SmackDown results: Riddle goes solo against The Bloodline, trio of matches set for Backlash
Riddle found himself at a major disadvantage against The Bloodline in the absence of undisputed tag team champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn on WWE SmackDown. Riddle fought bravely but could not overcome the combined forces of Solo Sikoa and The Usos. Riddle had revenge in mind after being buried under the announcers' table by Sikoa last week. And while he enacted that revenge, he simply could not balance out the numbers game of The Bloodline. Friday night also hosted two championship bouts and officially set the stage for three new matches at Backlash. GUNTHER defended his intercontinental championship against Xavier Woods while Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez made the first defense of their women's tag team titles against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.
Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor) def. LWO (Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar) via pinfall after Priest hit Escobar with South of Heaven. Priest called out Bad Bunny ahead of Bunny's appearance on Raw.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Zayn, Owens retain titles vs. The Usos; surprising start to draft
The future of WWE is a little more clear following night one of the 2023 WWE draft. Major superstars like undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes were drafted, setting into motion a world heavyweight title tournament to crown Raw's new lead player. Friday's show was headlined by a WrestleMania 39 main event rematch as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defended their undisputed tag team championships against The Usos. The match was a make-or-break moment for The Usos as The Tribal Chief grows increasingly impatient with their recent shortcomings. SmackDown also featured a swathe of Hall of Famers and familiar faces who served as guest presenters for the draft. Rob Van Dam, Shawn Michaels and Teddy Long are a few of the fan favorites who returned on Friday night.
LA Knight def. Butch via pinfall after spiking Butch with the BFT.
Street Profits def. LWO (Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro) and Braun Strowman and Ricochet via pinfall after Ford hit a frog splash on Ricochet.
Zelina Vega def. Sonya Deville via pinfall with an over-rotated schoolboy pin. Rhea Ripley tried to attack Vega, her Backlash opponent, post-match with a Riptide, but Vega reversed it into a DDT. Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar gave Vega a pep-talk backstage.
The O.C. laid out The Viking Raiders and Valhalla after the bad guys interrupted Styles.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Bad Bunny, LWO stand tall in Puerto Rico ahead of Backlash
Every episode of WWE SmackDown and Monday Night Raw should be held in Puerto Rico. The San Juan crowd brought loads of energy to a show highlighted by hometown hero Bad Bunny and the LWO ahead of Backlash. The ongoing discourse between LWO and Judgement Day was front and center on Friday night. WWE fans got a taste of Saturday's SmackDown women's championship match as Rhea Ripley and Zelina Vega duked it out in mixed tag action. The chaos between the two parties set the stage for Bad Bunny's grand arrival. The global music superstar blew the roof off the arena and blasted Dominik Mysterio with a kendo stick for good measure. SmackDown also sampled what the show will look like after Backlash. Last week's brand split has yet to be fully implemented, but draft picks Bianca Belair and the O.C. were among those featured on Friday night.
WWE SmackDown results: Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa vs. Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens set for Night of Champions
May 12, 2023
Undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns will be the first to tell you that he is not a tag team wrestler, but he will be at Night of Champions. Reigns inserted himself and Solo Sikoa into a tag team title match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in Saudi Arabia. Reigns did little to temper growing resentment within his family in the aftermath of Backlash. Sikoa and Jey Uso nearly came to blows in a successful outing against Owens, Zayn and Matt Riddle. Reigns, making his first televised appearance since the night after WrestleMania 39, belittled The Usos. He went so far as to lay his hands on Jimmy Uso. The undisputed champion then took matters into his own hands in an effort to bring the tag team titles back home. SmackDown also cemented the finals of a tournament to crown a new world heavyweight champion exclusive to Raw. Seth Rollins punched his ticket to the finals on Monday and a SmackDown superstar did the same on Friday night.

Cameron Grimes def. Baron Corbin via pinfall in seconds after driving Corbin into the mat with Cave In.
Women's Tag Team Championships -- Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez def. Damage CTRL (Bayley and Dakota Kai) via pinfall after Morgan caught Bayley with a victory roll. Pre-match Bayley acknowledged Iyo Sky's shortcomings against Bianca Belair at Backlash and compared herself to Reigns.
Brawling Brutes had a verbal altercation with Pretty Deadly backstage.
Asuka spat stinging mace in Belair's face, ruining her Knoxville homecoming.
Brawling Brutes (Butch and Ridge Holland) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) was set for SmackDown next week.
Styles def. Lashley via pinfall after hitting the Phenomenal Forearm. Styles advances to the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament against Rollins at Night of Champions.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline stands tall ahead of Night of Champions
A picture is worth a thousand words, but not all words speak truth. Roman Reigns and The Bloodline stood tall in the final moments of WWE SmackDown, but the reality is that Reigns has never been more alone. The Night of Champions go-home show closed with Reigns raising all four tag team championship belts over his head. It was a dominant display from WWE's most dominant champion. In truth, Reigns is more and more becoming The Bloodline's weak link with each passing week. SmackDown also featured a United States championship match between Austin Theory and Sheamus, plus one final test for AJ Styles ahead of his world heavyweight championship tournament finals against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.
United States Championship -- Theory def. Sheamus via pinfall with a schoolboy pin following interference by Pretty Deadly.

Styles def. Kross via pinfall after cracking him with a Phenomenal Forearm.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Roman Reigns unleashes Solo Sikoa on Jimmy Uso, new world title revealed
Roman Reigns has a shiny new championship belt to stuff in the void of his empty family bonds. In the aftermath of Night of Champions, lines were drawn in the sand between members of The Bloodline. SmackDown planted the seeds for a future showdown pitting Reigns and Solo Sikoa against The Usos. The latest installment of the blue brand was chock-full of Bloodline drama. Jimmy Uso stood by his decision to kick Reigns in the face at Night of Champions, Jey Uso continued his evolution as peacekeeper and Sikoa was forced to choose between his brothers and his cousin. Friday was all about family drama at its finest. SmackDown also featured two Money in the Bank qualifier matches, one for the men's division and one for the women's division. The four superstars fighting for a spot in the multi-person ladder match were LA Knight, Montez Ford, Zelina Vega, and Lacey Evans.
Austin Theory and Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) def. Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland and Butch) via pinfall after Pretty Deadly hit Holland with Spilt Milk and tagged Theory for the pin.

Vega def. Evans via pinfall with a Yoshi Tonic to qualify for the women's Money in the Bank Ladder match.
LA Knight def. Montez Ford via pinfall with an O'Connor Roll to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Jey Uso challenges Roman Reigns after The Bloodline injures Jimmy Uso
SmackDown started with the "Trial of Roman Reigns" and concluded with Jey Uso anointing himself as judge, jury and executioner. Jey Uso is on the warpath after Jimmy Uso was stretchered out of the arena following a brutal assault by The Bloodline. The Usos defeated Reigns and Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank this past weekend. It marked the first time that Reigns had been pinned in three-and-a-half years. What was perceived as the fall of Reigns' empire instead spurred the most ruthless, vindictive version of Reigns to date. Friday's show also featured Hall of Famer Edge's first match in nearly two months, a United States championship title defense and in-ring action featuring former world champion AJ Styles.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa lay out Jey Uso a week before SummerSlam
Jey Uso is going to need some help. "Main Event" Jey Uso has proved to be a formidable solo act, but he could not overcome the combined might of Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa on Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. SummerSlam is fast approaching and Jey Uso is sorely missing his twin brother, Jimmy Uso. Recent encounters suggest that Jey Uso may be the single most formidable superstar among the fractured Bloodline family, but he could not overcome the two-pronged assault of Reigns and Sikoa on SmackDown. Friday's show also crowned a new No. 1 contender for the United States championship, formally introduced a SummerSlam battle royal and more.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Jey Uso overcomes Solo Sikoa ahead of SummerSlam's 'Tribal Combat'
Jey Uso looks like a world-beater ahead of his WWE SummerSlam showdown with Roman Reigns. Uso passed one final obstacle in the imposing shape of his brother Solo Sikoa on Friday's episode of SmackDown. Reigns was typically absent from the pay-per-view go-home show as he prepared for "Tribal Combat." Paul Heyman was tasked with planting seeds of doubt while Sikoa was responsible for wounding Uso ahead of Saturday's match. Unfortunately for The Bloodline, Jey Uso is a force that won't be deterred as he looks to avenge his injured brother Jimmy Uso. Reigns and Uso will compete for Reigns' undisputed WWE universal champion and status as "Tribal Chief" of the Anoa'i family. SmackDown also featured the official formation of an intriguing new trio and an in-ring appearance by fan-favorite LA Knight.
LA Knight def. Sheamus via pinfall after hitting BFT. Karrion Kross and Grayson Waller tried to attack Knight post-match but he escaped.
Brawling Brutes (Butch and Ridge Holland) vs. The O.C. (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows) ended in a no-contest after the Street Profits attacked both teams. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford aligned with Bobby Lashley to form a new faction.
Austin Theory def. Cameron Grimes via pinfall after hitting A-Town Down. Santos Escobar, who challenges Theory next week for the United States title, laid out Theory with a Phantom Driver post-match.
Shotzi Blackheart gave chase to Bayley after interrupting the latter's appearance on "The Grayson Waller Effect."
Zelina Vega def. Iyo Sky via pinfall with a Yoshi Tonic. Sky lost hold of the match after getting distracted by Blackheart and Bayley on the ramp.
WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: John Cena gives Jimmy Uso an Attitude Adjustment
John Cena is back and he means business. Cena kicked off WWE SmackDown on Friday night in what was the first appearance of a two-month stint with the company. The 16-time world champion crossed paths with Jimmy Uso in a big way. Cena's return to WWE television brought with it the news that he will host Payback on Saturday. The "Fast X" and "Peacemaker" star will also make his debut in India next week for WWE's non-televised special. He will subsequently be featured on WWE programming for seven consecutive weeks from Sept. 15 through October. Cena found himself at odds with Uso on his first night back, planting the seeds for a rivalry with The Bloodline. Friday's episode of SmackDown also moved forward various storylines. A confrontation between LA Knight and The Miz turned physical, tag team champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens crossed paths with the Street Profits and Austin Theory found much-needed momentum ahead of his match against Rey Mysterio at Payback.
