Mike Tyson 'ready' to fight Jake Paul following health scare
Tyson and Paul restarted the buildup to their match that is now scheduled for Nov. 15 at the home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. They had been set to meet July 20 before Tyson became nauseous and dizzy on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May, with his representatives attributing the episode to an ulcer problem.

Sources: Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb agrees to four-year, $136M deal
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has ended his holdout and agreed to a four-year, $136 million deal that makes him the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. The deal includes a $38 million signing bonus, the largest ever given to a wide receiver, and $100 million guaranteed, per sources. Lamb was set to play the 2024 season on the $17.99 million fifth-year option of his rookie deal and become a free agent after the season, but the Cowboys were able to lock him up through the 2028 season with the new deal. The deal makes Lamb the highest-paid wide receiver in Cowboys' history.
The Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson tops the market at $35 million a season. The Philadelphia Eagles' A.J. Brown checks in at $32 million per year, the Detroit Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown at $30.003 million and the Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill at $30 million.
By missing training camp and three preseason games, Lamb could be fined more than $3 million. But the team has the ability to rescind the penalty since he was on his rookie contract. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Lamb's return will boost the morale of his team. Lamb has 32 touchdown catches in his first four seasons, only Hayes (45) and Bryant (40) have more in team history. He ended last season with a touchdown in nine consecutive games. The Cowboys approached Lamb, 25, with an extension in 2023, but talks never really progressed. He skipped the voluntary offseason program for the first time in his career.
NCAA proposes eliminating football's spring transfer window
College football's spring transfer period is officially in danger of being eliminated after the NCAA's FBS and FCS oversight committees recommended the sport move to a single offseason notification-of-transfer window. Under their proposal, the 30-day transfer window in December would become the lone opportunity for FBS and FCS players to enter their name in the transfer portal and seek a new school. For the past two years, the transfer portal has also opened for a 15-day window in April. The Division I Council will meet in October to determine whether it will adopt the proposal, which reduces the total number of days when student-athletes can transfer from 45 to 30. This year, more than 900 FBS scholarship players entered the portal in the month of April after the NCAA was forced to drop its one-time transfer restrictions. The 2023-24 portal cycle saw a record-breaking number of transactions yet again, with more than 2,700 FBS scholarship transfers.

There will be $15 million awarded to teams in the first year of the fund, which is 26% of the women's basketball media revenue deal. That number will grow to $25 million, which is 41% of the revenue, by 2028. The 26% is on par with what men's basketball teams received the first year the performance units program was established.

NCAA's $2.8B settlement opposed by athlete advocacy group
A prominent advocacy group for college athletes announced Thursday it opposes the $2.8 billion settlement agreement of antitrust litigation facing the NCAA and major college conferences, saying a plan for schools to share athletics revenue will actually limit the earning potential of the athletes. The National College Players Association said the so-called House settlement aims to eliminate booster-funded collectives that are currently responsible for millions of dollars in payments to college athletes for the right to use their names, images and likenesses. A court hearing is scheduled next Thursday where a federal judge in California could rule on the plaintiffs' request for preliminary approval of the deal, which includes $2.78 billion in damages to former and current college athletes. Several requests to deny preliminary approval have already been filed, including one from the plaintiffs of another antitrust lawsuit filed in Colorado who declined to be part of the settlement agreement. The NCPA said it opposes the deal because it gives conferences the ability to end proposed revenue sharing if athletes are deemed to be employees with the right to collectively bargain with schools or leagues. That topic is the subject of several fights likely to end up in court, including a unionization effort by the Dartmouth men's basketball team.
Final Four back to Atlanta in 2031 after 2020 cancellation
The Final Four is returning to Atlanta after the pandemic nixed the city's previous bid four years ago. The NCAA announced Thursday that Atlanta will be the site of the 2031 Final Four, its first time hosting since the 2013 bracket and the sixth time the city has been awarded the event. The city also previously hosted the Final Four in 2007, 2002 and 1977. Atlanta was slated to host the 2020 Final Four but the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation early in that year of all major sports, including March Madness two weeks before the tournament was set to start. The 2025 Final Four will be held in San Antonio, followed by Indianapolis in 2026 and 2029, Detroit in 2027, Las Vegas in 2028 and North Texas in 2030. UConn won its second straight national championship in Phoenix this past spring.
