Just when I'm wanting to be in a relationship

I usually do. Its my one of my trademark qualities that sometimes makes me appear charming and funny.

Every woman is batshit crazy, they just keep the symptoms stored in different hiding places so they're harder to immediately spot. Men use the same exact technique to hide their action figures and porn collections.

In a general sense, I think a great many women are permanently damaged by media myths they buy into that never apply to real life:

Myth 1: a love story cannot be passionate unless you spend most of your time fighting and hating each other, then suddenly lock eyes for a super hot kiss. This myth comes from chick movies.

Myth 2: Women who become part of a domestic relationship automatically are the sensible, know-everything supermom, while the male counterpart immediately drops 50 iq points and becomes a lovable but clueless oaf. This is the "soap commercial" myth.

Myth 3: Every man is just ambling aimlessly through life wishing he could find a perfect woman to correct his dress, eating habits, hobbies, culture, grooming, etc. This probably also comes from movies but I suspect may be genetic.

Myth 4: Sex and the with-holding thereof are perfectly acceptable negotiating tools. Okay, this one is probably mostly our fault, because dammit it works. But it ain't right.
 
And I actually find it extremely stereotypical and I don't know a lot of women like that at all. Hmpf.

I accept that as much as I know you Tis, you probably don't subscribe to those points of view, and yes... they are a pile of misogynist crap.

However, it's like saying "I am not affected by advertising"

The stereotypes / preconceptions are THERE, shouting every day we pass a bus shelter, or watch an advert. Therefore we place ourselves mentally in some respect to them. Even if we reject them, by that simple act we are reacting to them in some way. There are a lot of "weak minded" or just plain tired people who can't be bothered to rebel against a set of ideals and take their pick from what is on offer.

My cynicism has reached fairly high levels recently...
 
We need to think up the media myths that cause men to be batshit and then maybe we can fix both sides and WE CAN ALL FIND LOVE AND HAPPINESS :rwmad: OR maybe the men are batshit because they've been raised by batshit moms. I DON'T KNOW.

Mmmm, yes, may have fallen into the trap of using a big word because it sounded cool. Damn...

There are, though, plenty of "little women" and the most recent "working mothers are more likely to be serial killers" storylines which tend to be doing the rounds recently.

I have a lot of fun poking at myths in my trade, and there are plenty directed at men (thinking with penis, unable to concentrate on more than one thing at a time etc.)

Anyway, I am considering blaming the 24 hour news cycle, as classic displacement from my own profession.

Donovan, women would act like that around other women to badmouth their man and tell all of us other women how she has had to change him. :)
