James “Jimmy” Hill, 68, was killed in a Russian attack on the city Chernihiv, as his partner Irina Teslenko received treatment at a local hospital. Katya Hill tried to talk her brother out of it. She urged Jimmy Hill to postpone his trip to Ukraine as she saw reports of Russian tanks lining up at the border. But he needed to help his longtime partner, who has been suffering from progressive multiple sclerosis.

Russian air force action increases despite flood of antiaircraft missiles into Ukraine

The air war over Ukraine appears to have entered a new phase, with the Russian air force boosting the number of flights it makes per day by 50 percent and deploying an increasing array of Russian drones and munitions over the battlefield, according to U.S. defense officials and military analysts. The expansion comes after Ukraine shot down numerous aircraft early in the war and despite the United States and its allies sending thousands of man-portable air-defense systems, or MANPADS, to Ukraine. While there are gaps in information, it appears that Ukraine has concentrated the high-power air defenses it has in a handful of locations, including the capital, Kyiv, and the second-largest city, Kharkiv, Kofman said. That has left Russia more free to carry out an increasing number of airstrikes around the southern port city of Mariupol, where pitched urban combat is ongoing and Russia has its sights set on what would be its first strategic victory in the war.

Ukraine still fighting back a month after Russia began its invasion

This past week, Ukrainians marked a month since Vladimir Putin launched his brutal invasion of their country, bombarding its cities and killing more than a thousand civilians, according to the United Nations. More than half of this country's children have now fled their homes, according to the U.N. But Russia's ground invasion has been stymied by Ukrainian counter-attacks and the Russians are stalled outside the capital Kyiv. Between 7,000 and 15,000 Russian troops have been killed, according to a NATO official. Moscow even suggested on Friday it may now have more limited goals - focused on Ukraine's far east. President Biden, who is now back in Washington, condemned Russia's leader in Poland yesterday - saying, "this man cannot remain in power."

President Biden, who is now back in Washington, condemned Russia's leader in Poland yesterday - saying, "this man cannot remain in power."

This comes from a man that after two years he want have any power. Biden will probably wait until a month before the elections and declare war on Russia for making our gas prices higher.. That way he'll remain the President for another year or two. Giving the people more time to have our country the first BLACK WOMEN/women as President. Why did Biden get back home and make that statement about Putin?

US still skeptical of peace talks as Russia claims to pull back from Kyiv

The U.S. remains skeptical that Russia is engaging genuinely in negotiations with Ukraine to end its monthlong war against its neighbor. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Kremlin's negotiators had still not shown "signs of real seriousness," even after the two sides discussed potential elements of a peace deal shortly after talks in Turkey on Tuesday. Russia's military said it would "fundamentally" scale back its military operations near Ukraine's capital Kyiv and the northern city Chernihiv to give those talks a chance. But Blinken declined to say whether the U.S. had confirmed a real shift in Russian strategy nearly five weeks after Russian leader Vladimir Putin launched his invasion and aimed for a swift takeover of the Ukrainian government.

Ukraine negotiations to resume, Europe faces Russia gas deadline

Ukraine (Reuters) - European buyers of Russian gas faced a deadline to start paying in roubles on Friday, while negotiations aimed at ending the five-week war were set to resume even as Ukraine braced for further attacks in the south and east.
Moscow's invasion of its neighbour has killed thousands, sent millions fleeing and galvanised the United States and allies around the world to impose punishing penalties on Russian government entities, businesses and oligarchs. Russia will respond to European Union sanctions, the RIA news agency quoted a senior foreign ministry official on Friday. Russian President Vladimir Putin played one of his biggest cards on Thursday, demanding European energy buyers start paying in roubles from Friday or have existing contracts halted. For the past five weeks, Russian forces on the ground in Ukraine have been beset with a slew of logistical problems on the battlefield, including reports of fuel and food shortages."
